About the Role 

As a member of the Kins team, you'll thrive on the energy and excitement of a rapidly growing Physical Therapy startup. In this multifaceted role, you'll demonstrate your adaptability and teamwork, collaborating across departments to tackle a variety of challenges.

One day you may be working closely with our Director of Revenue Cycle and Clinical Operations Team, ensuring our billing and coding processes meet the high standards set by our leadership. The next, you could be exploring new ways to improve the patient experience or assisting with the onboarding of our amazing physical therapists. The responsibilities will vary, but the common thread is your commitment to excellence.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program 
  • Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license and registration in New York State 
  • Minimum 2 years experience in medical billing & coding, with strong knowledge of insurance process and regulations
  • Proficiency in digital tools and technologies, including EHR software, Zendesk, spreadsheets, and collaboration platforms
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with a focus on empathy and active listening
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Passion for improving patient outcomes and a commitment to delivering exceptional service

Responsibilities 

As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Kins, your responsibilities will span across several key areas, each one offering the chance to make a tangible difference, depending on the priorities.

Billing

  • Perform accurate and timely review of intermediate coding and abstracting of Kins accounts utilizing ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT code sets as indicated and according to department procedures 
  • Document all transactions to maintain a robust audit trail
  • Resolve front-end coding issues to optimize our billing processes

Administrative Operations

  • Ensure seamless onboarding for patients by reviewing intakes and preparing them for their initial evaluations
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, retrieving necessary documentation and communicating with physician offices
  • Optimize our work processes by following policies, procedures, and reporting on any issues

Clinical Operations

  • Communicate with physical therapists, providing support with documentation and billing
  • Contribute to team meetings, working alongside the Director of Clinical Operations 
  • Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Physical Therapist Recruitment

  • Participate in the interview process, assessing the fit of prospective 1099 independent contractors

Onboarding & Credentialing

  • Streamline the onboarding and insurance credentialing process for our growing team of providers
  • Lead onboarding training to ensure newly hired physical therapists are fully equipped to deliver exceptional care
