Estimator

The Estimator role will estimate and determine the overall cost of a new or existing construction project. You will work closely with precon teams, architects, engineers, and vendors to calculate detailed costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Performs detailed cost estimates for self-performed work and specialties such as; concrete, steel fabrication and erection, rough and finish carpentry, door and hardware installation 
  • Interact with subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and engineers to gather cost data, research alternative products, negotiate supplier agreements, and verify bid accuracy 
  • Identifies and manages risks to budget 
  • Understands, reviews, and manages project plans, specifications, and manufacturer's data and execute estimate based upon conceptual or said documentation 
  • Generates RFI's as required to ensure completeness of the bid or preliminary documents and identifies discrepancies 
  • Works with project team to track productivity to reconcile estimate production rates 
  • Understands construction law, current codes and general building science and best practices 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered 
  • Minimum of 8 years construction experience, with preference given to those with a combination of field and estimating experience. 
  • Advanced computer skills with On Screen Takeoff, MS Excel & Project, Adobe, Bluebeam, as well as working knowledge of CAD, Revit and Navisworks 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints 
  • Excellent time management, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills 
  • Proven presentation abilities
