Pickleball, Games & Ice Rink Manager

COMPENSATION RANGE; $55,000 - $60,000 base salary with potential for bonus. 

THE HIRING COMPANY: The Kitchen at Discovery is a unique indoor/outdoor entertainment complex that features America's fastest growing sport, pickleball, as well as a great food and beverage setting. Our venue features 6 indoor and 4 outdoor courts that are built to stadium and competition specifications. Our courts have up to twice the surface area of recreational courts that are common in other pickleball complexes. A full complement of indoor games, outdoor games, ice skating, live music and a family friendly atmosphere will provide patrons a great experience. The Kitchen at Discovery is one of multiple amenities built and planned for local residents at Aria and the greater Columbia community.

PICKLEBALL & GAMES MANAGER POSITION; We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Pickleball, Games & Ice Rink Manager to lead our pickleball, games and ice rink operations to new heights. You will be responsible for overseeing all recreation aspects of our property, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and driving the growth and success of our facility.

PICKLEBALL & GAMES MANAGER  RESPONSIBILITIES:

• General Recreation & Facility Management

  • Oversee daily operations of pickleball courts, indoor/outdoor games, and ice rink activities.

  • Manage facility cleanliness, safety, and maintenance to ensure top-tier guest experiences.

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff across all recreation and rink departments.

  • Maintain inventory and forecast supply needs for all program areas.

• Customer Experience

  • Provide a welcoming, inclusive, and service-driven environment.

  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and effectively.

  • Develop programs that cater to all skill levels and age groups.

• Programming & Events

  • Plan and execute tournaments, leagues, clinics, public skates, and seasonal events.

  • Collaborate with marketing to promote events, drive attendance, and increase community engagement.

  • Implement programming to support both casual and competitive play.

• Ice Rink Operations

  • Manage seasonal ice rink setup, operation, and breakdown in coordination with vendors and facilities team.

  • Oversee ice safety, resurfacing schedules (including Zamboni operation or supervision), staffing, and skate rentals.

  • Ensure compliance with all local safety and operational regulations.

  • Monitor ice conditions and maintain high standards of surface quality.

• Financial & Administrative

  • Control operational costs, manage budgets, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Track and analyze performance metrics for all recreation areas.

  • Implement policies and systems to maintain smooth, compliant operations.

PICKLEBALL & GAMES MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS

• REQUIRED; Bachelor’s degree in sports management, recreation, hospitality, or related field.
• REQUIRED; 1 years of experience managing recreational or sports facilities.
• REQUIRED; Experience with ice rink operations 
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and customer service abilities.
• Passion for promoting recreational wellness, pickleball, and community activities.
• CPR and AED Certification required within first 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift items up to 25 lbs.
