Role overview:

The Finance Associate, Fund Operations on the Kiva Capital Fund Operations Team will provide operational and financial support for the innovative, impact-first, investment funds of Kiva Capital Management. As a member of the Kiva Capital Team, you will work directly alongside a team of deeply experienced Asset Management Professionals to help institutionalize and launch impact investment funds. This role reports to the Senior Director of Finance, and provides direct exposure to the world of Impact Investing, Fund Management, Operations, Finance and Accounting. You will be involved in many aspects of fund accounting, fund administration, loan administration, treasury management, risk, and investor relations. This is an ideal position for someone with a background in finance, economics, accounting, and investing who is looking to gain valuable experience in the finance and operations’ departments of the asset management and impact investing industries.

At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in the U.S or Colombia on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately, we cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Key responsibilities include: 

California Rebuilding Fund Operations and Reporting

  • Be the lead liaison for the California Rebuilding Fund by working closely with all stakeholders (CDFI, investors, Governance & Allocation Committee, legal) on a continuous basis
  • Prepare, review and coordinate the monthly performance file process with partner Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFI)
  • Assist with the quarterly reporting process 
  • Financial Statement review
  • Quarterly reporting (financial, impact, compliance etc)
  • Coordinate the bi-annual Kiva-Donor Advised Fund (K-DAF) meeting for relevant parties

Treasury Management

  • Assist in the creation of bi-weekly cash projections for the funds 
  • Prepare monthly courtesy and final invoices for fund borrowers
  • Review and book all payments and expenses for the funds in banking systems and fund models
  • Coordinate with fund administrator for timely Investor payments
  • Collect and store all bank statements for the funds on a monthly basis
  • Review bank accounts and assist with cash allocation for optimal cash management

Finance Operations

  • Report the funds monthly revenue for Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Finance tracking
  • Prepare and send balance confirms on an ad hoc basis
  • Support the Kiva Capital Management (KCM) team with Salesforce support
  • Coordinate with KCM team for policy and procedure maintenance on ad hoc basis

Key Stakeholder Support

  • Coordinate with the fund administrator on audit, treasury, finance, and operational matters
  • Assist on tax and audit requests across the Kiva Capital funds

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant (Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business) professional or educational experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; disciplined, detail-oriented, and accountable, with the ability to capture detailed processes and communicate in an accessible manner to a range of stakeholders 
  • Ability to deliver results on multiple priorities simultaneously with excellent time management skills
  • Proven aptitude for process discovery, definition, and documentation
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of private markets
  • Experience in the design and implementation of impact investment fund products a plus
  • Understanding of Impact Investing framework a plus
  • Autonomous, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated. Effective while working remotely
  • Demonstrated commitment to Kiva's commitment to financial inclusion
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (or Google Sheets and Slides)
