Detection & Response Engineering Co-op (Fall 2026)
This is a 6-month (July 6th-December 18th, 2026) paid co-op experience out of our Boston, MA headquarters.
The Secure Intelligence Operations (SIO) team—often referred to as Detection & Response—is responsible for helping Klaviyo mitigate cyber risks. The team focuses on identifying and responding to malicious activity, minimizing impact when security controls fail, and protecting the organization from internal and external threats. The Detection team specifically builds and maintains detective controls to identify suspicious behavior across Klaviyo’s environment.
The Detection & Response Engineering Co-op will support the SIO team by developing, tuning, and testing security detections responding to identified threats. This is a highly hands-on, impactful role that gives students exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges and defensive engineering work that is not typically available at the entry level.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Support detection development efforts across the security stack
- Review, test, and tune detection queries and rules
- Convert detection queries from Splunk to SQL
- Participate in threat hunting and threat modeling exercises
- Triage and respond to identified threats
- Complete project-based work that directly improves Klaviyo’s security posture
Who you are:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028
- Possess foundational knowledge of Python and are proficient in SQL
- Have a working familiarity with core cybersecurity principles and are eager to apply them in a detection and response setting
- Motivated self-starter who can own projects and work autonomously, while also having strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset for winning together
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have prior hands-on experience utilizing Splunk in a professional or academic environment
