Web Content Developer

Position Summary 

KLSA is seeking a Web Content Developer to support internal and client websites and digital communications. You will develop and publish content, maintain websites and content management systems (CMS), and improve site design, usability, and search visibility. You will connect social media and digital assets with the website experience and use analytics to guide content and design improvements.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Write, edit, and publish web pages, articles, landing pages, and resource materials in clear language that reflects client priorities, brand standards, and audience needs.
  • Maintain websites and CMS content, including navigation, templates, menus, forms, links, publishing workflows, version history, and archived materials.
  • Develop content strategies and editorial calendars informed by audience research, content inventories, stakeholder interviews, and client objectives. Coordinate reviews and publishing approvals.
  • Design page layouts and organize information to improve navigation and usability. Apply responsive design and consistent visual standards across desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Apply search engine optimization (SEO) through keyword research, page titles, metadata, headings, internal links, and image optimization. Coordinate redirects, sitemaps, and technical fixes.
  • Configure and review approved website analytics and campaign tracking. Report on traffic, search performance, engagement, and conversions, and recommend measurable improvements.
  • Integrate client social media channels, email campaigns, videos, podcasts, publications, and other digital assets through approved embeds, feeds, sharing features, and coordinated publishing.
  • Organize digital assets using consistent file names, tags, metadata, and version controls. Verify permissions, accessibility, and appropriate use before publication.
  • Check content for accuracy, accessibility, broken links, and browser compatibility. Apply meaningful headings, alternative text, captions, and accessible document practices.
  • Coordinate CMS updates, backups, security fixes, and performance issues with technical teams. Maintain publishing procedures and provide client training and support.

Required Qualifications 

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in web content development, website management, digital communications, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience publishing and maintaining content in a CMS such as WordPress, Drupal, or SharePoint. These years may be included in the total experience requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience applying SEO, interpreting website analytics, and coordinating content across websites and social media channels.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and plain language communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for varied audiences.
  • Working proficiency in HTML and CSS, with basic JavaScript knowledge sufficient to troubleshoot page behavior and collaborate with developers.
  • Practical skills in content architecture, page layout, responsive design, CMS workflows, and digital asset organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet publishing deadlines, incorporate client feedback, and document quality reviews.
  • Understanding of web accessibility, brand consistency, and client requirements for privacy, security, and information handling.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting government, nonprofit, or other mission-focused clients and collaborating with program staff and subject matter experts.
  • Experience applying Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to websites, multimedia, and downloadable resources.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, tag management, SEO tools, and reporting dashboards.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, image optimization, basic video editing, and social media publishing tools.
  • Experience with content migrations, usability testing, A/B testing, CMS integrations, and training content contributors. 

Education and Experience 

Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, communications, business, public administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered. Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, web design, information technology, computer science, marketing, or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education, professional training, and experience may be considered.
