Director of Sales, Account Executive Team – Remote, anywhere in the US

About the Role

Knock is looking for a proven sales leader to own the performance and growth of Knock's Account Executive organization. You will be accountable for delivering the company plan for leads and loan applications across Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, and Wholesale Account Executives.

Knock originates the Knock Bridge Loan™, which enables homeowners to use the money tied up in their current home to purchase their next one — buy before you sell. You will choose the partner segments worth pursuing, set the coverage model, own the positioning against every alternative in the market, and sharpen the team that delivers the volume.

What You'll Do

  • Own the AE organization's number — outreach activity, leads, conversion, and loan application volume against the company plan
  • Set and defend the team's production standards, and revisit them as the lead mix and product set evolve
  • Hire, develop, coach, and hold accountable the Account Executive team
  • Own AE onboarding and ramp as a repeatable program with measurable time-to-productivity
  • Own org design and the territory and coverage model, and build the AE headcount plan with Finance
  • Maintain distinct playbooks for retail lending partners and for the broader lender and agent set, rather than forcing a single motion across both
  • Design and evaluate AE compensation plans in partnership with the People team and Finance, grounded in applications generated and modeled against cost of sale
  • Deliver an accurate rolling forecast to the leadership team, and run the pipeline and forecast cadence behind it
  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert on the Account Executive channel — turning partner and borrower feedback into product, marketing, and lending operations changes, and driving adoption of those changes in the field

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of sales or business development experience in mortgage, real estate, or proptech, including at least 4 years leading sales teams
  • Track record of hiring, coaching, and developing sellers into consistent performers
  • Demonstrated ownership of a sales number, with a track record of growing lead and application volume while forecasting accurately against plan
  • Deep understanding of how to sell into retail lending — how loan officers, team leads, and branch managers make decisions, and what moves them: closing clients stuck in the process, excluding the departing property from DTI, and winning offers with no home sale contingency — and the ability to turn that into the playbooks, training, and coaching the team runs on
  • Ability to set the positioning strategy for a Buy Before You Sell product — including the case to lenders that Knock is a bridge to a mortgage they retain — and how the team handles cost, rate, and timing objections from both the lending partner and the borrower
  • Command of the competitive landscape, with the judgment to keep Knock's positioning ahead of the alternatives and to equip the team to sell against them
  • Experience designing or materially influencing sales compensation plans that drive the right selling behavior
  • Strong analytical judgment — comfortable building the model, reading the data, and acting on what it says
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to brief leadership and represent Knock externally to partners
  • A deep belief in fostering inclusive, equitable practices that reflect Knock's core values
  • Proven success in a fully remote, distributed team environment
  • Recent lending experience required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every listed qualification. We value potential, growth mindset, and diverse experiences.

Physical Requirements

  • Set up and constantly operate a computer.
  • Communicate and exchange accurate information to others via telephone or internet video applications.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight travel at least 4 times per year
  • Must be able to lift, carry and push up to 20 lbs.

The candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
