About the team and what we will build together

The Kobie Engineering Team is a diverse group of individuals belonging to teams including DevOPS Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and System Administration. The overall goal of our team is to bridge the gap between different organizational units creating a collaborative environment where all teams are working together to benefit the organization and our various technology platforms.  Additionally, we strive for excellence in delivering business needs to the organization in reliable and repeatable fashion in order to maximize our impact to the business bottom line.

How you will make an impact

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in securing our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and maintaining the integrity of our applications and systems. You will collaborate with various teams to design, implement, and maintain security controls and protocols, ensuring that cloud environments are secure, compliant, and resilient against threats. You will also monitor and respond to security incidents, continuously improving the organization’s cloud security posture.

  • Cloud Security Design & Implementation: Design and implement security controls and best practices for cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), including identity and access management (IAM), network security, encryption, and data protection.
  • O365 Security & Compliance: Leverage Office 365 E5 capabilities, such as Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Information Protection (IRM), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP), to enhance security within the O365 environment. Configure and maintain Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Microsoft Defender, and other security features to protect emails, collaboration tools, and data stored within O365.
  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate security threats in cloud environments.
  • Incident Response & Remediation: Monitor cloud environments for security breaches, detect anomalies, and lead incident response efforts. Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and processes.
  • Security Automation: Develop and implement automated security solutions utilizing Infrastructure as Code to continuously monitor and secure cloud resources. Skilled in leveraging Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to embed security into CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure hardening as part of a DevSecOps strategy.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Ensure that the cloud infrastructure complies with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS) and internal security policies. Lead cloud security audits and assessments.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with development, DevOps, and IT teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), promoting a "security by design" culture.
  • Security Awareness & Training: Provide ongoing training and guidance to teams on cloud security best practices and emerging threats. Ensure that security awareness is embedded throughout the organization.
  • Cloud Security Architecture & Strategy: Develop and maintain a cloud security architecture strategy, ensuring that the design of cloud environments supports scalability, security, and business continuity.
  • Threat Intelligence & Research: Stay up-to-date on emerging cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and trends. Integrate threat intelligence into cloud security processes and systems.

What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor's Degree: in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent field, or equivalent work experience 
  • 5+ years of professional experience in IT security, with a focus on cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
  • 3+ years of experience specifically in Cloud Security (e.g., securing public and hybrid cloud environments).
  • Experience with cloud service models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and understanding how to secure them.
  • In-depth experience in securing cloud-native applications, containerized workloads (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and serverless environments.
  • Incident Response experience in cloud environments, including detection, response, and recovery from security incidents.
  • Expertise with securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI).
  • Experience securing cloud-native services like IAM, VPC, Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE), and Serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
