The Opportunity at Komodo Health

Our team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of security at Komodo Health. We implement and maintain security solutions to protect our systems and data, manage identity and access controls, and handle incident response. We also conduct security assessments, monitor for potential threats, and collaborate with other teams to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations. Our goal is to create a secure and resilient environment that supports the company's growth and innovation.

This role exists to strengthen Komodo Health's security posture by ensuring effective identity and access management. The IAM Engineer will manage user identities, handle access requests, and troubleshoot access issues to protect sensitive data and maintain system integrity. This role will also contribute to developing and implementing IAM policies and procedures.

As an IAM Engineer, you will play a critical role in securing our systems and data. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge IAM technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and influence the development of our IAM strategy. Your work will directly impact the security and efficiency of our operations.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…

  • Own the strategy, architecture, and operations of our IAM platforms, with a strong focus on Okta.
  • Partner with IT and HR teams to streamline identity lifecycle management, including onboarding, offboarding, role changes, and access requests.
  • Improve and automate IAM processes to reduce friction, eliminate manual tasks, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices around authentication, authorization, provisioning, and governance.
  • Conduct regular audits, reviews, and reporting of access rights and entitlements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on IAM technologies, staying current on industry trends and evolving security threats.
  • Provide guidance, documentation, and training to IT, HR, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent adoption of IAM processes.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Integrate and manage IdPs within the IAM system.
  • Handle and streamline access requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve access-related issues.
  • Develop and implement IAM policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for compliance.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests.

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • 5–8+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management, including significant hands-on expertise with Okta.
  • Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management, directory services, SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning, and federation (SAML, OIDC, OAuth).
  • Proven experience partnering with IT, HR, and other cross-functional teams to design and implement IAM solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate processes using automation.
  • Knowledge of IAM policies and procedures development.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with auditing, governance, and access certification processes.

  2. Comfortable working in AI-enhanced environments across writing, data analysis, content creation, or design.
  3. Regularly leverages AI tools such as Notion AI, Perplexity, Claude, Descript, Runway, Midjourney, or Microsoft Copilot i.e. to improve speed, clarity, or creative output.

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Experience with IAM tools such as  Auth0, or Azure AD.
  • Experience integrating IAM with HR systems (e.g., Workday)
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to IAM.
  • Background in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and IAM integrations.
  • Familiarity with privileged access management (PAM) solutions.
  • CISSP, CCSP, or Okta certifications are a plus.

The pay range for each job posting reflects a minimum and maximum range of annual base pay that we reasonably expect to pay for this position within the US. We carefully consider multiple business-related factors when determining compensation, including job-related skills, work experience, geographic work location, relevant training and certifications, business needs and market demands.

 

The starting annual base pay for this role is listed below. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion and in accordance with a written agreement or plan. This role may also be eligible for equity awards. In addition, this role is eligible for benefits including, but not limited to, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; flexible time off and holidays; 401(k) with company match; disability insurance and life insurance; and leaves of absence in accordance with applicable state and local laws and regulations and company policy. 

San Francisco Bay Area and New York City:

$167,000 - $210,000 USD

All Other US Locations:

$145,000 - $180,000 USD

Komodo Health has a hybrid work model; we recognize the power of choice and importance of flexibility for the well-being of both our company and our individual Dragons. Roles may be completely remote based anywhere in the country listed, remote but based in a specific region, or local (commuting distance) to one of our hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Chicago with remote work options.
