Principal, Product Strategy (Commercial / Medical Affairs)
We Breathe Life Into Data
At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.
As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.
TEAM
The Product Strategy team is responsible for identifying, prototyping, shipping, and scaling products that drive growth within specific market segments that Komodo serves. We do this by operating across three horizons: (1) where to play over the next 3-5 years; (2) prototyping, launching, and landing new products that will drive growth over the next 1-3 years; (3) optimizing Komodo’s existing product portfolio. We sit at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing — translating market intelligence and customer needs into strategies, products, and results that advance Komodo's mission to Reduce the Burden of Disease.
MISSION
This role is fundamentally a segment owner with a builder's mindset. You hold the strategic P&L view for Commercial / Medical Affairs — assessing where to invest, what to ship, and how to move the market. Product, engineering, marketing, and sales enablement are functions you partner closely with to get there. If you've lived the Commercial / Medical Affairs workflow, have strong opinions about what's missing in the market, and want to build the thing that fixes it, then this role was designed for you.
THE OPPORTUNITY AT KOMODO HEALTH
We're looking for a Principal, Product Strategy (Commercial / Medical Affairs to help the world's leading healthcare data & AI platform grow our Commercial / Medical Affairs segment within Life Sciences customers.
OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished:
- Taken ownership of and refined Komodo’s Commercial / Medical Affairs segment strategy, ensuring a clear view of where to invest to drive growth, retention, and account penetration
- Shipped 3-5 solutions — apps, agents, data products, skill suites, etc. — that are live, generating revenue, and solving real problems for Commercial / Medical Affairs customers
- Partnered with Sales & Marketing to refine playbooks, value propositions, and enablement materials that measurably improved how the Revenue team sells into the segment at scale
- Established yourself as the go-to internal and external expert at the intersection of Komodo's portfolio and the Commercial / Medical Affairs market — including representing Komodo at industry forums and conferences.
These are the essential job duties you will be responsible for:
- Own segment strategy for Commercial / Medical Affairs with a P&L mindset toward where to invest to drive growth, retention, and account penetration - both in the near- and mid-term
- Conduct ongoing business reviews tracking Commercial / Medical Affairs revenue by product and channel, segment performance, competitive dynamics, and portfolio gaps
- Consistently engage externally with customers, partners, and industry forums to understand market trends, buyer/user needs, and the competitive landscape
- Prototype new product concepts using AI and low-code approaches, then build PRDs and partner with PM and Engineering to iterate and ship
- Lead market entry for new Commercial / Medical Affairs products: serve as early internal user; develop initial value proposition; collaborate with Sales on early pitches; collaborate with our Research Consulting team to support early customer implementations; and feed structured insights back to Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams
- Enable the Sales team to sell at scale by advising Marketing and Enablement on playbooks, training, and deep segment expertise; partner directly with Sales on high-value Commercial / Medical Affairs deals
- Serve as Komodo's Commercial / Medical Affairs subject matter expert at conferences and events
What you bring to Komodo Health (required):
- 10+ years of deep, hands-on experience in Commercial / Medical Affairs – leading teams within life sciences organizations, running studies as a consultant, or leading the segment within a healthcare data/analytics company. You’ve lived the workflow, not just studied it from the outside.
- Expert-level understanding of the Commercial / Medical Affairs segment: use cases, buyer and user personas, competitive dynamics, and where the market is heading
- Analytical rigor: fluency in both qualitative market intelligence and quantitative data — including internal signals (revenue, pipeline, product usage, win/loss) and external signals (market trends, competitor moves, investor reports) — with a demonstrated ability to build well-structured, evidence-based strategies from both
- Exceptional communication and influencing: the ability to translate complex ideas into crisp written, visual, and oral narratives for diverse audiences including customers, executives, and cross-functional teams
- Track record of operating as an integrative, cross-functional leader (e.g., across Product, Sales, and Marketing functions)
- Experience using AI coding / coworking tools to build something — software, prototypes, workflows, agents. No engineering background required, but genuine curiosity and comfort with building is essential
Additional skills and experience we'd prioritize (nice to have)…
- Prior product management experience or hands-on track record shipping products
