Job Description

We are looking for a Validation & Verification Engineer (m/f/x) to test and validate our industrial IoT devices in a hands-on environment. Your main focus will be building and maintaining our test infrastructure and writing automated test cases in Python (pytest) to identify bugs and ensure firmware quality.

You will work closely with embedded engineers to understand system behavior, reproduce issues, and continuously improve test coverage. This includes testing firmware running on real hardware, setting up test environments, and contributing to a reliable and scalable validation process.

Your work will directly help ensure that our devices meet functional requirements and quality standards before deployment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, writing clean test code, and working closely with hardware and embedded systems.

Your Impact 

• Build and maintain automated test cases (Python/pytest) to detect bugs in firmware early
• Set up and operate test infrastructure for hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Reproduce, analyze, and document issues found on real devices
• Improve test coverage and help make testing more reliable and scalable
• Ensure that devices meet defined requirements before release

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• Basic programming skills in Python (ideally with pytest or similar frameworks)
• Understanding of software testing principles (e.g. test cases, regression testing, edge cases)
• Interest in working with hardware and embedded systems (IoT devices)
• Ability to debug and analyze issues across software and hardware boundaries
• Experience with Linux and command line tools
• Structured and detail-oriented way of working when writing and executing tests
• Ability to clearly document bugs and test results
• Basic understanding of version control (e.g. Git)
• Willingness to learn and improve test infrastructure and tooling over time
• Good communication skills to collaborate with embedded and software engineers

It's a plus if you have: 

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or building automated test setups for embedded devices
• Strong debugging skills across system boundaries (firmware, hardware interfaces, communication protocols like UART, SPI, I2C)
• Experience designing scalable test frameworks or improving existing test infrastructure (e.g. test orchestration, parallel execution, reliability)
• Experience with external certification bodies
• Knowledge in electronics and hardware engineering
