With a focus on India, KRAFTON is dedicated to nurturing the gaming and start-up ecosystem. In line with this commitment, KRAFTON initiated the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) in October 2023. KIGI aims to support 6-10 teams annually, with program durations ranging from six months to one year. Additionally, KRAFTON India has invested over $150 million in the Indian market in the past two years. It has committed an additional $150 million to the Indian start-up ecosystem over the next three years.

 

[ ABOUT THE ROLE ]

As a Legal Counsel at Krafton, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring compliance across various business functions. You will be responsible for handling corporate legal matters, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, commercial contracts, and dispute resolution. This role requires a deep understanding of media, technology, and finance laws, along with strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. As Legal Counsel, you will be part of a fast-growing legal department and will report directly to the Head of East Legal.

[ REQUIREMENTS ]

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India.
  • Licensed to practice law in India.
  • 7 to 10 years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm or as in-house counsel at a multinational corporation, preferably in media/entertainment, technology, or fintech industries.
  • Substantial experience in commercial transactions, legal research, and regulatory advice.
  • Solid experience in various legal matters related to the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sectors.
  • Review changes to applicable laws and regulations and advise, either independently or with other legal team members, regarding any impact on the business. 
  • Able to work independently and handle day-to-day legal tasks.
  • Flexibility to work with different time zones 
  • Team player capable of working both independently and with others 
  • Must have a sense of humor and interest in gaming.  
  • Strong sense of customer support and excellent interpersonal/communication skills. 
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to manage complex legal issues.

[ RESPONSIBILITIES ]

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including NDAs, service agreements, licensing agreements, content acquisition agreements, marketing agreements, publishing and development agreements, and data privacy-related agreements
  • Research and advise on Indian regulations, including data protection laws such as the DPDPA.
  • Handle civil and criminal litigation matters.
  • Respond to requests from law enforcement and investigative authorities.
  • Support compliance functions, including employment and IP.
  • Collaborate with HQ and global teams on product launches and cross-border regulatory issues.
  • Advise on company formation, structuring, tax, FDI
  • Manage board operations and internal governance policies
  • Provide practical legal counsel across all levels of the organization and support global legal department operations, including translating legal concepts for business stakeholders and working closely with production, marketing, and business development teams.
  • Be the first point of contact for certain business teams regarding their legal needs.
  • Perform other relevant legal duties as assigned.

[ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS]

  • Company Secretary (CS) qualification is a plus.
  • A mix of law firm and in-house experience.
