KIGI aims to support 6-10 teams annually, with program durations ranging from six months to one year. Additionally, KRAFTON India has invested over $150 million in the Indian market in the past two years. It has committed an additional $150 million to the Indian start-up ecosystem over the next three years.
[ ABOUT THE ROLE ]
As a Senior Legal Counsel at Krafton, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring compliance across our various and expanding business functions. You will be responsible for handling corporate legal matters, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, commercial contracts, and dispute resolution. This role requires a deep understanding of entertainment and media, technology, and corporate laws, along with strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a fast-growing legal department and will report directly to the Head of the Legal East Team.
[ REQUIREMENTS ]
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India.
- Licensed to practice law in India.
- 10+ years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm or as in-house counsel in a multinational corporation, preferably in media/entertainment, technology, or fintech industries.
- Substantial experience in corporate and commercial transactions and providing regulatory advice.
- Strong understanding and substantial experience in highly regulated areas such as payments, data protection, content regulation, and telecommunications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, proactively identifying challenges and solutions.
- Flexibility to work with different time zones.
- Team player capable of working both independently and with others.
- Must have a sense of humor and interest in gaming.
- Strong sense of customer support and excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage complex legal issues
[ RESPONSIBILITIES ]
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex corporate and commercial contracts — including licensing agreements, content acquisition agreements, marketing agreements, publishing and development agreements, and data privacy-related agreements — and provide strategic guidance on key negotiations.
- Advise on potentially applicable Indian regulations and proposed regulations, including the Information Technology Act (IT Act), Information technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), RBI Guidelines, Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, Competition Act, Digital India Act (DIA), and data protection laws such as the DPDPA.
- Advise on company formation, structuring, tax, and FDI issues.
- Provide practical legal counsel across all levels of the organization, including translating legal concepts for business stakeholders and working closely with production, marketing, and business development teams.
- Collaborate on global legal strategy and cross-border regulatory issues.
- Manage and provide strategic direction for civil and criminal litigations.
- Respond to requests from law enforcement and investigative authorities.
- Oversee internal investigations and ensure policy alignment at the governance level.
- Support compliance functions, including employment and IP.
- Manage board operations and internal governance policies.
- Perform other relevant legal duties as assigned.
[ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ]
- Company Secretary (CS) qualification is a plus.
- A mix of law firm and in-house experience.
- In-house or law firm experience working extensively with or consulting on the above listed regulations
