Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and effective Clinical Consultant to support the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) Business Management Support Services contract. The Clinical Consultant will provide expert-level clinical laboratory and transfusion medicine guidance to support ASBP’s mission. This role requires deep knowledge of blood banking practices, blood product compatibility, and international blood supply chain operations to ensure safe and effective blood program management.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide subject matter expertise in transfusion medicine, including blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing.
- Assess and report on blood product compatibility, including understanding potential differences in practices between U.S. and international settings.
- Evaluate different country blood supply chains, including collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities.
- Deliver expert analytical support with a strong focus on transfusion medicine applications.
- Communicate findings, assessments, and recommendations effectively through written reports and verbal briefings to diverse stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the ASBP to manage expectations and ensure alignment on program objectives.
- Provide clinical laboratory science expertise to support program planning and decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Hematology).
- Minimum experience: Three (3) years of experience in a clinical laboratory scientist role working with DoD military and/or civilian customers.
- Expertise in transfusion medicine, blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing.
- Knowledge of international blood supply chain operations, including collection, processing, storage, and distribution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships and manage expectations with diverse stakeholders.
- Understanding of differences in blood banking practices between the U.S. and other countries.
