Senior Manager, Market Research

Summary of Job:
The Senior Manager, Market Research, will primarily focus on supporting US market insights for internal/alliance brands. This role will report directly to the Director of Market Research and is crucial for shaping the strategic direction, brand positioning, and commercial success within the US market. This individual is expected to operate as a highly collaborative strategic partner, collaborating in the design and execution of primary market research, and integrating insights to drive critical business decisions, with a specific focus on navigating and informing alliance and co-promote strategies.
Essential Functions:
Cross-Functional & External Partner Collaboration
- Serve as the primary market research strategic partner for the US Brand/Marketing Teams, Sales, Market Access, Commercial Analytics, HEOR, etc.
- Lead the market research partnership with external alliance/co-promote partners, ensuring alignment on research objectives, design, vendor selection, and interpretation of shared insights to support unified commercial strategies.
- Actively participate in joint alliance/co-promote meetings to represent the voice of the Kyowa Kirin US customer (HCPs, patients, payers) and ensure research insights are seamlessly integrated into shared strategic planning.
- Foster strong relationships across the organization and with external partners to ensure research efforts are focused on the most critical, high-value business questions.
- Present complex issues in a clear and persuasive manner, effectively communicating research recommendations to diverse internal and external cross-functional teams.
Market Research Leadership & Delivery (US Focus)
- Lead the partnered development and implementation of the US primary market research plans targeting HCPs, patients, and payers.
- Proactively identify and diagnose critical US-specific business questions and information gaps, translating them into robust research plans and actionable recommendations.
- Manage end-to-end research projects, including identifying and managing appropriate vendor partners and maintaining strict budget adherence.
- Ensure all market research activities comply with Kyowa Kirin's internal guidelines, as well as US industry regulations and legal requirements.
- Provide strategic input to help shape US strategic and business plans, brand strategies, and launch plans.
Data Integration & Business Acumen
- Understand and integrate key findings from US secondary data sources (e.g., claims, EMR, sales data, payer information) to validate primary research findings and construct a comprehensive, holistic understanding of the US marketplace and key business issues.
- Focus on key business questions/issues and frame business problems into compelling, clear, and persuasive presentations for a variety of stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of emerging US healthcare trends and competitive activities and assess their potential impact on franchise business strategies.
Job Requirements:
Essential Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced business or scientific degree is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of Market Research or relevant work experience within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or biotech company.
- Prior experience focusing specifically on the US pharmaceutical market.
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring extensive cross-functional collaboration and influence.
- Strong knowledge of the design and conduct of a broad array of primary market research approaches, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Ability to understand and effectively integrate key insights from standard US secondary data sources.
- Exceptional, clear, persuasive oral and written communication skills driven by solid business logic and strategic framing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience supporting a dermatology franchise or products (either in-house or agency-side) is highly preferred.
- Prior experience working with, or as part of, a commercial alliance or co-promote partnership is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Physical Demands: Normal office environment with prolonged sitting and extensive computer work.
Working Conditions: Requires up to 15% domestic and international travel
The anticipated salary for this position will be $142,400 -$185,900. The actual salary offered for this role at commencement of employment may vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, education (including applicable licenses and certifications, job-based knowledge, location, and other business and organizational needs.
