Summary of Job
The Sr Director, Field Medical - Immunology plays a vital role in overseeing and shaping the strategic direction and operational management of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) and Market Value and Outcomes Liaison (MVOL) teams within Kyowa Kirin’s Medical Affairs Immunology therapeutic area, leading standardization and driving excellence in the execution of Immunology Field Medical and MVOL activities.
This position is pivotal in the development and delivery of the Immunology Field Team strategic plan, including fostering and sustaining trust with healthcare professionals, academic institutions, payers, policy and healthcare decision-makers, all in support of the company's mission to provide high-quality medical information and educational resources.
Essential Functions:
Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a Field Medical team of MSL Team Directors and Associate Director MVOLs within a single therapeutic area.
- Drive performance against defined metrics and conduct regular evaluations to ensure effectiveness and accountability.
- Foster a collaborative, high-engagement team culture focused on scientific excellence and impact.
- Define and evolve the Immunology Field Medical capability framework; provide ongoing training in product knowledge, clinical data, insight generation, and scientific communication.
- Ensure Field Medical teams remain current on product data, emerging science, industry trends, and regulatory expectations.
Strategic Planning
- Oversee development and execution of annual MSL/MVOL strategic plans and associated budgets aligned with organizational priorities.
- Guide thought leader engagement strategy and field execution to support launch, lifecycle, and evidence-generation objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide leadership to Field Medical teams in building trusted relationships with thought leaders and healthcare professionals to enable high-quality scientific exchange and insight gathering.
- Establish strong cross-functional partnerships with Medical Directors, Global Medical Affairs, Franchise, and Commercial teams.
- Ensure MSL/MVOL activities align with enterprise priorities and therapeutic area strategy.
- Maintain accountability for KPI implementation, insight generation, activity tracking, and reporting of outcomes.
- Set and model high ethical standards, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs, policies, processes, and compliance requirements.
Job Requirements:
Education
- A doctorate level degree (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD) in life sciences with relevant experience is preferred; however, a relevant life science bachelor’s degree (e.g. RN, MS) is required
Experience
- At least 10 years of leadership experience within Medical Affairs or Medical Science Liaison functions
- Minimum of 5 years leading Field Medical teams, including MSL and MVOL roles
- Preferably within immunology therapeutic areas.
Technical Skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite and Veeva systems.

- Strong management skills with a demonstrated ability to plan resourcing needs, set goals and objectives, establish and recalibrate priorities, provide feedback, and evaluate performance
- Proven ability to assess individual strengths, skills, and career interests to support ongoing talent development

Physical Requirements:
Normal office environment with prolonged sitting and extensive computer work
Requires up to 60% domestic and international travel.

The anticipated salary for this position will be $290,000 to $320,000. The actual salary offered for this role at commencement of employment may vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, education (including applicable licenses and certifications, job-based knowledge, location, and other business and organizational needs.
