The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Manager, Volunteer Program:

The Manager, Volunteer Program is a key contributor on the People Management team, with a core focus on the creation, management, and delivery of an impactful and exciting Volunteer program.  Reporting to the Sr. Director, Workforce & Volunteers, this role is responsible for supporting the creation and execution of pre-Games Time Volunteer engagement within the Los Angeles community and across the United States, as well as the Games Time Volunteer program.  This role will work closely with other functional areas across the organization, as well as other key internal and external community partners and other stakeholders, to bring the Volunteer program to life.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and contribute to the planning and development of the Volunteer vision and proposition for the Games, including the development of Volunteer programming before the Games
  • Coordinate the development of the Volunteer program branding, marketing and ‘look’
  • Draft and provide inputs to Volunteer Workforce policies 
  • Support the recruitment campaign for all generalist and specialist volunteers
  • Manage and implement the selection policies, processes (including providing input for the development of the volunteer application form), tools (online and offline) to support Volunteer program mobilization
  • Manage Volunteer experience, including but not limited to working in any Volunteer centers and coordinating the volunteer journey throughout
  • Utilize tracking and reporting tools and processes to support the management of Volunteer offers and Volunteer assignments to meet forecasted demand as it evolves through workforce planning and venuitization
  • Manage and coordinate contact center support for the Volunteer Program
  • Work with workforce systems and technology team/s to ensure the development and implementation of systems to implement the Volunteer program and to enable key milestones such as Volunteer recruitment and Games Time role assignments
  • Manage key internal stakeholder relationships (e.g. workforce planning, uniforms, training, communications and engagement, marketing, technology) and external stakeholder relationships (e.g. local volunteering organizations, community partnerships)
  • Other duties as assigned

Background and Requirements

  • 2-5 years prior experience managing Volunteers or Volunteer programs
  • Prior experience in global live event delivery preferred
  • Extensive experience recruiting, assigning, and engaging with volunteers
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making

Position Requirements:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Working in an open office environment, on-site 4-5 days per week
  • This role requires extended periods of computer use and virtual collaboration.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during events and Games-time operations, including navigating large venues and workforce centers.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, particularly in the lead-up to and during the Games.
  • Must be available for non-traditional work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support events and operations
  • May require lifting and transporting materials, such as workforce equipment and operational documents, up to 25 lbs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required

  • Excellent analytical skills; capable of identifying and prioritizing issues and providing creative and pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong project and time management skills and ability to manage and prioritize changing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Consistently able to make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively address challenges.
  • Consistently able to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
  • Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain confidentiality.

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000-105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
