Senior Associate, Venue Design

The VNI (Venues and Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Games Planning & Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed and developed with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion. 

Reporting to Sr. Manager, the Senior Associate, Venue Design will support the planning and coordination of VNI subfunctions, including Venue Development and Program Management. This role will focus on team support, monitoring project timelines and collaborating with stakeholders at a department level. 

The successful candidate will be eager to learn, adaptable and have excellent project management skills.  Additionally, candidate will embody LA28’s values and behaviors in comportment and work product.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordination 

• Collaborate with internal functional areas (FAs) to support the development of Venue Infrastructure 
• Support the integration of Venue Infrastructure sub streams and overall coordination of the department 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Work closely with internal and external design teams, including Venue Management, Accessibility, and Games Operations, to ensure cohesive planning and delivery of venue infrastructure 
• Facilitate collaboration between internal teams ensuring alignment on deliverables and timelines 
• Support problem-solving efforts related to venue planning and execution 
• Resolve functional area requests and outputs across the VNI team 

Background & Qualifications:

• Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in either event/entertainment, sports, or architectural design.
• Familiarity with sports and event planning preferred. 
• Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders (clients) and build strong cross-functional relationships
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated competence in Revit and AutoCAD.   Familiarity with other design programs such us as Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, Forma, Rhino highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information efficaciously.
• Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaboration.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA, with occasional travel to venue sites (10% time)
• The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment 
• Support LA28 operational activity during lead up to Olympic and Paralympic Games

Position Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree Required or equivalent work experience.  Preference given to candidates with backgrounds in space planning, AEC workflows (Architecture-Engineering-Construction), environmental design, and large-scale events.

Expectations:

• Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to think critically and discern the right course of action with little guidance.
• Willingness to occasionally visit venues and work on-site as needed.
• General support to the core VNI team.

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $95,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
