Senior Manager, University Housing - LA28 Media Village (USC)
The Senior Manager, University Housing will oversee the planning and execution of housing operations for the LA28 Media Village, located at the University of Southern California (USC). This site will serve as the primary accommodations complex for accredited press and broadcast personnel during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The role will manage a guaranteed 2,437 residential units comprising 3,886 bedrooms/beds, supporting over 3,800 international media guests. Responsibilities span operational planning, stakeholder management, vendor procurement, infrastructure readiness, accessibility integration, service delivery coordination, and Games-time leadership. The Senior Manager will ensure the Media Village functions as a high-performing, hotel-grade environment aligned with LA28 standards for excellence, inclusion, and operational discipline.
This role will report directly to the Director, University Housing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership – USC Media Village
- Lead the end-to-end design, operationalization, and Games-time management of 2,437 units and 3,886 bedrooms/beds.
- Direct conversion of USC residential housing into hotel-grade accommodations, including room readiness, occupancy planning, signage, and guest flow.
- Oversee deployment of essential services: 24/7 reception, high-speed Wi-Fi, dining services, self-service laundry, media workspaces, and recreational areas.
- Implement occupancy models that reflect IOC/LA28 media tier requirements and accessibility allocations for Olympic and Paralympic periods.
2. Vendor and Contract Management
- Lead sourcing, negotiation, and oversight of contracts for key service providers, including catering, housekeeping, laundry, security, IT, and waste management.
- Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), KPIs, and issue resolution frameworks across vendors.
- Coordinate service integration with USC campus providers where appropriate, ensuring alignment with university protocols and event standards.
3. Housekeeping, Linen, and Facilities Operations
- Develop and manage a housekeeping plan across nearly 4,000 beds with appropriate staffing ratios, shift planning, and multilingual training.
- Coordinate linen supply chain, on-site distribution, inventory rotation, and integration with laundry vendors.
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs, work order systems, and guest issue escalation protocols in collaboration with USC facilities teams.
4. Security, Technology, and Accessibility Integration
- Collaborate with LA28 Security, USC DPS, and city agencies to implement 24/7 secure perimeter access, credential verification systems, and emergency response planning.
- Ensure robust network infrastructure supports high-capacity internet access, VPNs, and media upload requirements throughout all guest rooms and common areas.
- Enforce ADA compliance and universal design across all rooms, pathways, service counters, signage, and communal spaces.
- Coordinate with LA28 Accessibility team to implement inclusive services for guests with disabilities, including assistive technology and mobility support.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Institutional Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for USC administration, including housing, facilities, dining, and auxiliary services.
- Lead recurring integration meetings with LA28 functional leads (Transport, Press Ops, Technology, Workforce, Medical, etc.) to ensure seamless operations.
- Prepare and deliver status updates, operational risk reports, and readiness assessments to senior leadership.
6. Budget Oversight and Reporting
- Develop and manage a multi-million-dollar operational budget for the Media Village, including contingency planning.
- Track all cost elements associated with vendor contracts, service delivery, infrastructure adaptation, and Games-time operations.
- Report budget performance, variance analysis, and forecast updates to LA28 Finance and Games Delivery leadership
Background & Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in large-scale event housing, hotel operations, campus residential logistics, or venue accommodation delivery.
- Proven track record in managing 1,000+ bed housing environments under rigorous quality standards, delivered on strict deadlines with stakeholder visibility.
- Experience executing large-scale vendor contracts and leading multi-shift operations teams in hospitality or event environments.
- In-depth understanding of accessibility requirements, digital infrastructure for media, and Olympic or equivalent operational standards.
- Strong working knowledge of physical plant operations, safety protocols, and customer service frameworks at scale.
Preferred:
- Prior Olympic, World Cup, or large-scale international sporting event experience in an accommodation or operational leadership role.
- Experience with university residential systems, auxiliary services, and facilities management.
- Familiarity with USC systems, administrative structure, and campus infrastructure.
- Background in executive housekeeping or hotel service operations highly desirable.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
- Availability to travel locally to venues and campuses, primarily USC, for planning meetings, site visits, and operational oversight.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field required, or equivalent work experience

- High operational acuity with ability to manage simultaneous workstreams across infrastructure, staffing, service, and logistics.
- Effective communicator and stakeholder navigator across public, private, and institutional interfaces.
- Exceptional problem-solving under pressure; anticipates disruptions and deploys mitigations in real time.
- Culturally competent, inclusive, and skilled in cross-functional leadership.
- Mastery of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet; familiarity with project management and hospitality systems.

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00-130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
