The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Associate, Workforce Operations:

The Associate of Workforce Operations will play a pivotal role in the operational planning and execution of Games Time workforce services across a designated group of Olympic and Paralympic venues. Reporting to the Sr Manager of Workforce Operations, this role is responsible for translating strategic workforce plans into executable, venue-specific operations. This includes supporting the coordination of staffing models, workforce services, scheduling, rostering and logistics for paid staff, contractors, and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have operational event experience in workforce or associated functional areas. In addition, the candidate will hold the ability to prioritize key tasks, build rapport with a range of functional areas and venue teams, and navigate complex operational challenges with positivity and creativity.  

Key Responsibilities:

Venue Workforce Planning & Coordination 

  • Act as main point of contact for workforce planning activities across a designated cluster of venues, ensuring spaces, staffing levels and role assignments meet operational requirements.  
  • Collaborate with critical operational delivery Functional Areas including but not limited to; Event Venue Management, Transport, Food and Beverage, Uniforms, Volunteer Management - to confirm operational needs and ensure workforce delivery aligns with venue operating plans.  

Operational Readiness 

  • Manage key tasks around planning of workforce services, including transport, food and beverage, accommodation and more.  
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure venues address key workforce topics related to labor law and best practice.   
  • Serve as a liaison between Functional Area leads and the central workforce planning and operations teams to ensure timely issue resolution and service continuity.  

Games Time Delivery 

  • Act as the point of contact for workforce troubleshooting and service escalations at assigned venues.   
  • Manage daily operational briefings and reporting during the Games.  
  • Note this role will transition into a venue-based role at Games Time within the Workforce Team.  

Cross-functional Integration 

  • Work with Volunteers, Technology, Accreditation, Uniforms, and Workforce Systems teams to ensure full integration of services at the venue level.  
  • Support the Sr Manager with tasks related to cross-functional projects ensuring the timely and fiscally responsible planning and development of required Games Time workforce services.  
  • Ensure consistent application of workforce policies, standards, and tools across all assigned venues.  

Data, Tracking & Reporting 

  • Maintain workforce planning tools and tracking systems, providing regular updates and insights to inform resourcing decisions.  
  • Ensure venue issues are tracked and reviewed through the Radio Tracker.  
  • Analyze and escalate venue issues in the Radio Tracker where the Workforce Team have been tagged as responsible.  

Background & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred   or equivalent work experience  
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in event operations.  
  • Experience leading venue-based teams beneficial.  
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, escalate issues, communicate effectively, and build rapport with functional areas and venue teams.   
  • Previous experience working with volunteers and contingent workforce is a plus.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This role will commence in-office at the LA28 DTLA location.  
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.  However, frequent site visits are likely required in the lead up to Games Time delivery.  
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.    
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.    
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.  
  • Individuals should be able to demonstrate a capacity to lead in an operational environment (including, but not limited to, shift-work, evening and weekend commitments, on-the-ground operations) 
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,500- 82,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
