Senior Director, Project Management
The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Senior Director, Project Management:
The Senior Director, Project Management is responsible for overseeing the Project Management Group within the Planning and Programs Team, ensuring integrated planning and detailed understanding of the status of projects and programs across the organizing committee and delivery partners.
Working in partnership with Finance and People Management, this individual will drive governance, planning, and risk management for LA28, playing a pivotal role in delivering the Games on time and within budget.
Reporting to the Chief of Planning and Programs, the Senior Director will provide strong oversight, analysis and critical thinking, while building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in large-scale, complex program management, stakeholder engagement, and high-impact decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Portfolio Leads across Games Delivery, Impact, Experience, Engagement and Enabling functions, ensuring alignment with overall strategies and providing constructive challenges to ensure that the project management group is adding value through insight generation.
- Oversee an integrated view of scope and status across the portfolios.
- Oversee and provide direction to the project management framework including OCOG processes, standards, and reporting for project management.
- Oversee management of the roadmap, consolidated schedule, RADIO (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions, Opportunities) reporting and management, dependency management, and status reporting, collaborating closely with the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee.
- Oversee the management of portfolio governance, including forums, project teams, and working groups.
- Provide project management expertise and resources to resolve complex cross-functional or cross-program projects and issues.
- Interface with senior leaders and executives in a fast-paced dynamic environment, acting as a substitute for the Chief of Planning and Programs when required.
- Work collaboratively with other leads in Planning and Programs (strategic planning, Games planning, Games data and analysis, Operational Readiness, Games Learning and Sustainability), Finance and People Management to ensure a cohesive team and streamlined approach to planning.
- Lead without direct authority by guiding, motivating, and ensuring high-performing teams.
Position Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience managing complex portfolios of programs or projects.
- Broad generalist knowledge across Olympic and Paralympic Games Delivery or project/program management experience in large-scale events, logistics, infrastructure, government or technology programs.
- Ability to engage with and influence C-level executives.
- Strong understanding of Governance models, and experience managing and reporting on Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions, and Opportunities.
- Proven expertise in data analysis to inform senior leadership for decision-making and reporting.
- Proficiency in project management tools (SmartSheet experience preferred).
- Problem solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to guide and mentor project teams and working groups.
- Leadership: Track record of leading high-performing teams and driving results in complex environments.
- Coordination: Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and governance activities.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment with flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.

Education / Training / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience working in Management Consulting or business analysis roles.
- Ongoing professional development, certification, or training in program and project management, change management.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
The annual base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
