We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology to deliver cutting-edge products that meet the evolving needs of our industry.
Job Description: Lead the team responsible for developing, owning, and deploying forecasting, analysis, and optimization models that turn Lab37’s customer and operational data into reliable decision systems. Establish the strategic roadmap for translating ambiguous problems into structured models that inform product, operations, and business decisions. Oversee the model lifecycle from concept through deployment, ensuring the team balances accuracy, interpretability, latency, and real-world impact.
What you'll do
Team Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing data scientists and analysts.
- Set the strategic direction and roadmap for all data science initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Data Analysis & Modeling:
- Oversee in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Manage the team’s development of statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems.
- Establish standards for and review dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and communicate findings.
Data Pipeline Development & Maintenance:
- Work with Lab37's engineering to define our overarching data infrastructure, standards, and governance policies.
- Oversee the design, building, and maintenance of robust and scalable data pipelines for various data sources.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, performance, and reliability across all pipelines.
Operations Research and Optimization:
- Direct the modeling and optimization of end-to-end system decision variables across the operational ecosystem.
- Guide the team in defining objective functions that formalize tradeoffs (cost, quality, timing, customer experience).
- Guide the team in building optimization systems that continuously re-plan as inputs and conditions change.
- Oversee the development of simulation tools for “what-if” analysis to guide product and operational decisions.
Cross-functional collaboration:
-
- Partner with operations, product, and engineering teams to translate data into crisp requirements.
- Represent the team in communicating complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support business operations with data-driven insights and analysis.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree a plus.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in data science, machine learning, statistics, operations research, or similar domains, including a minimum of 3 years of people management experience.
- Experience mentoring, managing, and developing a team of data scientists.
- Track record successfully leading teams to build and deploy models that drive measurable business impact.

- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) with the ability to build production-ready data pipelines and models.
- Systems-thinking mindset; able to model complex, constraint-driven environments end-to-end.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with operations research or constraint-based optimization (e.g., LP/MIP, scheduling, resource allocation).
- Experience building simulation models for complex, real-world systems (e.g., discrete-event or digital twins).
- Experience working with real-time operational or telemetry data in production environments.
- Experience in food service, on-demand delivery, or just-in-time manufacturing / production systems.
