Employee Relations Manager
Are you passionate about fostering positive employee relations and ensuring a productive work environment? We are seeking an Employee Relations Manager to join our team. As an integral part of our HR department, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining employee satisfaction and compliance with employment laws.
This role supports all 12 of our dealership locations and requires travel between sites, including Hawthorne, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Torrance. Candidates must be able to move from store to store as needed and will not have a designated “home office.” The position is based in the field at the stores daily, with only a weekly visit to corporate (Hawthorne). Reliable transportation is required.
Responsibilities
- Coaching and Guidance: Develop positive coaching relationships with managers and employees across the organization. Provide guidance on employee development, disciplinary matters, and involuntary terminations.
- Unbiased Investigations: Independently conduct unbiased investigations, determine findings, and prepare necessary documentation. Summarize investigation results clearly and maintain case management tools.
- Interviews: Conduct in-person, web-based, and phone-based witness interviews. Analyze collected information and reach well-reasoned conclusions, assessing witness credibility.
- Confidentiality and Objectivity: Maintain confidentiality and conduct investigations impartially.
- Legal Compliance: Interpret and apply knowledge of business practices, corporate policies, and employment laws (federal, state, provincial, and local) to complex employee relations matters.
- Industry Trends and Policies: Stay updated on industry trends and employment legislation.
- Unemployment Insurance Oversight: Oversee and manage Unemployment Insurance vendor inquiries and performance metrics.
- Training Initiatives: Assist in designing and coordinating Employee Relations-related training and development programs.
- Reporting and Collaboration: Create accurate monthly reports and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required, or PHR/SHRM certification may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of HR experience, including employee relations and investigations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to manage high volumes of documentation efficiently.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable but not required.
- Ability to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek when needed.
- Automotive dealership experience highly desired.
- A workplace investigator certification is preferred or the ability to obtain one within a year of employment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex employee relations issues with confidentiality, objectivity, and consistency.
- Strong relationship-building skills at all organizational levels.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication with employees and management during complex or emotional situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience running reports in ADP WFN highly desired.

Compensation
- The estimated hourly range for this position is $85,00.00 - $110,000.
