Location: Must currently reside or willing to relocate to one of the following metropolitan areas: Seattle WA, Portland OR, Phoenix AZ, Tucson AZ, Houston TX, Minneapolis MN, or Orlando FL.

 

About the role

 

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the server, service, and network infrastructure at Lakefield Veterinary Group. This includes assets located in our colocation facility, in our remote hospitals, and various Cloud based SaaS providers. They will be responsible for the design, build, administration, maintenance, monitoring, and ongoing support of these systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent Microsoft OS, Entra, and Azure administration and automation skills. A good foundation in networking, be able to work successfully in a group or on their own, and have a desire to learn new skills.

 

Duties:

· Provide hardware, software, and networking support in a multi-site physical and virtual server environment.

· Monitor and respond to system security events and outages.

· Configure and maintain Active Directory, Office 365, and other internal systems/applications.

· Manage and maintain firewalls to provide secure Internet access to end users and applications.

· Apply monthly patches to Windows Servers and Desktop endpoints.

· Manage, monitor, and respond to incidents in our EDR solution.

· Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation.

· Author and maintain documentation for internal systems and end-user solutions.

· Automate repetitive tasks to improve processes and drive efficiency.

· Manage backup applications and validate that we are capturing restorable backups.

· Work closely with our MSSP to secure and protect our environment.

· Provide recommendations for increasing the reliability, security, and availability of our infrastructure.

· Some travel to remote locations will be required.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

· A minimum of 3+ years of Systems Administration experience in a Windows environment.

· Experience managing a virtualized server environment (Hyper-V preferred).

· Effective hardware and software troubleshooting skills. · Proficiency in managing Active Directory, Azure, Entra, DNS, and Office 365.

· Solid understanding of data backup and restoration procedures.

· Experience administering and maintaining LAN and WAN infrastructure with a good understanding of the underlying network protocols.

· Experience working with and Enterprise EDR solution (Sophos preferred).

· Strong oral and written communication skills. · Automation experience using PowerShell or an equivalent scripting tool. Power Automate and PowerApps are a plus.

· A passion for technology and the desire to continue to learn.

· The ability to lift 50 lbs.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $107,000 annually.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
