Studio Leader

- Project Management responsibilities that include developing and managing project budgets and schedules and leading project teams in permitting, design and construction activities.
- Responsible for leading and managing all phases of design projects of varying types and sizes while overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Oversee the preparation of landscape plans, specifications and renderings.
- Coordinate and direct the work of sub-consultants and project designers.
- Develop design ideas and solutions from concept through construction.
- Participate in marketing and business development activities including proposal writing and interview presentations. Establish new and maintain existing relationships with clients and other external contacts.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities for studio staff, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, and managing staff performance, conducting staff reviews, and providing periodic feedback.
- Mentor, manage, and train studio staff to foster growth and equip studio with technical expertise.
- Review timesheets for proper billing. Monitor and coordinate studio staff efforts to ensure production meets target metrics.
- Acts independently to determine methods on new and special assignments.
- Able to coordinate and effectively communicate with people in other disciplines, with clients, and with jurisdiction reviewers and staff.
- Mentor, manage and train Designers.
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field of study.
- Typically 8-15+ years of progressive related experience + supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D. Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, Microsoft Office and VantagePoint.
- Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) license in respective state.
- Project management experience.
- Advanced knowledge level of free-hand and digital rendering.
- Knowledge of plant materials commonly used in the region.
- In-depth knowledge of local jurisdiction and state permitting / approval processes.
- Experience in managing a design studio and developing Designers.
