
Studio Leader, Civil Engineering | DAL

As our firm continues to grow, we continue to be on the lookout for the next great Studio Leader; you. We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join us in our Dallas office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management responsibilities that include developing and managing project budgets and schedules and leading project teams in permitting, engineering and construction activities.
- Responsible for leading and managing all phases of design projects of varying types and sizes while overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate and direct the work of sub-consultants and project designers.
- Exercise responsible charge over project design, sealing plans, calculations, and reports.
- Ensure Quality Control process is followed for projects within Studio. Perform Quality Control plans checking for other engineers.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate with people in other disciplines, with clients, and with jurisdiction reviewers and staff.
- Communication with clients on project status, engineering approach and project issues.
- Coordination of studio workload including assigning and directing work. Coordination between Director, Principle, and other studios to balance workloads.
- Participation in marketing and business development activities including proposal writing and interview presentations. Establish new and maintain existing relationships with clients and other external contacts.
- Mentor, manage, and train studio staff to foster growth and equip studio with technical expertise.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities for studio staff, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, and managing staff performance, conducting staff reviews, and providing periodic feedback.
- Review timesheets for proper billing. Monitor and coordinate studio staff efforts to ensure production meets target metrics.
- Acting independently to determine methods on new and special assignments.
- Mentor, manage, and train Designers.
- Bachelors in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
- Supervisory Experience.
- Professional Civil Engineer (PE) License in respective state.
- Expertise in site layout, grading, storm water and erosion control design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office and VantagePoint.
- Proven record of experience successfully managing projects, project teams and developing design staff.
- In-depth knowledge of local jurisdiction and other regulatory permitting / approval processes.
- Clear understanding of construction methods and practices.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience in managing a design studio and developing Designers.
