Manufacturing Engineering Technician
We’re hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technician with strong technical skills and a passion for the powder coat paint process.
This position supports the powder coat paint team by maintaining and improving tools, equipment, and processes for existing product lines. You’ll work closely with operations, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure the powder coating process runs efficiently and consistently—while always looking for opportunities to improve quality, throughput, and sustainability.

How You Contribute:
- Ensure compliance with facility safety guidelines and promote a strong safety culture in the paint and finishing areas.
- Partner with operations and maintenance to support equipment performance, process control, and uptime for the powder coat line, pretreatment system, and curing ovens.
- Monitor and maintain process consistency by supporting set-ups, changeovers, and preventative maintenance for powder coat and related systems.
- Troubleshoot powder coat process issues, including application, cure, adhesion, and surface defects.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve quality, increase throughput, and reduce downtime.
- Track and analyze process data and trends to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Support standard work creation and maintenance for the powder coat area, including work instructions, time studies, risk assessments, and equipment documentation.
- Provide training support and documentation for best practices in powder application, line loading, part masking, and material handling.
- Support paint process planning and cost/labor estimates for engineering changes, new product development, and process upgrades.
Criteria for Success
Must have a strong focus on providing high-level support to production teams, strong problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams is essential.
- Two-year technical associate degree or equivalent experience in a related manufacturing or finishing role.
- Understanding of powder coat application equipment, pretreatment systems, ovens, booths, masking, hanging, and material handling.
- Experience with data collection, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Competency or interest in SolidWorks CAD and Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Working knowledge of materials and coatings used in outdoor furniture (steel, aluminum, zinc, etc.).
- Must be able to comply with all safety and PPE requirements, including respirator use and lockout/tagout.
- Willingness to travel for offsite training and industry certifications (e.g., Nordson University, PCI 3000 Certification).
- Maintain annual membership and participate in applicable industry training and events.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This role requires time in both office and production environments, including hot, noisy areas near automated equipment and moving conveyors. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work standing or walking for up to 10 hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
