Key Responsibilities

  • As an Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead automation design projects.
  • I/O list development
  • Equipment and control panel specification
  • Control panel design and network design
  • Process narratives and software specification/programming
  • Oversee process automation design aspects, starting from P&IDs for process or packaging applications to construction packages detailing control panel designs and contractor scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with project teams while supervising and mentoring team members.
  • Execute full lifecycle project support, including system design, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of automation systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide on-site support during installation, focusing on control system implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes (UL508A, NEC) and standards.
  • Programming of PLCs, SCADA, and HMI for continuous and batch systems.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or Chemical Engineering required.
  • EIT certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years in control systems, manufacturing, or consulting-design environments executing automation projects as a designer or engineer.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in managing sub-tasks within automation projects, including client coordination, system design, and bid package preparation.
  • Experience in control panel design, network design, instrument selection, and control system design.
  • Familiarity with designing/programming Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar hobbyist control boards is a plus.

 

Software Knowledge:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (CompactLogix, ControlLogix, GuardLogix), FactoryTalk View SE/ME, Wonderware, RS Batch, FT Historian, 3rd Party Historians, OPC Servers.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit is highly desirable.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities with a focus on relationship management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
