Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.
Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several unique sites across San Francisco.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Under the direction and guidance of the Chief of Programs, The primary role of the Manager of Clinical Services is to oversee and monitor the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Services program and all other clinical functions related to the department. The Manger of Clinical Services will coordinate a variety of therapeutic services, oversee referrals and assignment of cases, and perform administrative tasks related to clinical work. Additionally, the Manger will oversee a team of clinicians. The Manager works from a strength-based model using trauma-informed interventions and emphasizes Harm Reduction and Restorative Practices in work with youth and clinical consultation to staff. Performs related work as required.
This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide direct oversight in hiring, training, and supervision of program staff.
- Provide programmatic and/or clinical supervision to Clinicians.
- Represents the agency at external meetings; develops and promotes contacts, working relationships, and cooperative programs between Larkin Street’s Wellness services and other agencies and organizations involved in behavioral health services.
- Provide clinical consultation and professional development to all staff on a range of behavioral health issues and best practices for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) population.
- Monitoring/Approving clinician notes, auditing files, general administrative tasks.
- Oversee budgets, data collection and tracking, contract requirements and program outcomes.
- Support youth and staff with linkage to community resources, as needed.
- Plan mental health awareness events for the agency.
- Support clients and clinical staff with linkage to community resources as needed.
- Assist with special projects and other assignments as requested by the Leadership team, Division Director of Client and Clinical Services, and the Chief of Programs.
- Ability to travel independently throughout the community to Larkin Street’s various program and partner agency sites.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Serve on the On-Call Consultant rotation.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
- You hold a valid LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
- Associates may be considered, but a valid license is preferred.
- You have some experience working with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds, similar to the client base at Larkin Street Youth Services. This includes people with active mental illness or co-occuring behavioral health and/or substance use disorders.
- *BONUS* You have experience working in shelter, transitional, and/or permanent supportive housing programs.
- You are experienced in crisis de-escalation, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction. You have some experience coaching others to gain these skills and mindsets.
- You have experience consulting other staff on clinical best practices.
- You are a self-starter and team player. Your colleagues describe you as patient, compassionate, and organized.
- You work best in a hybrid working environment with up to 2 days per week working from home.
- You are available for an on call consultant rotation every 6 to 8 weeks.
- You are willing to work holidays occasionally.
- You are able to travel independently throughout Bay Area (primarily San Francisco) to visit various program sites and partner agencies.
- You are vaccinated against COVID 19.
