Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.
Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several unique sites across San Francisco.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Under the guidance of the Division Director of Government Relations, the Director of Public Funding is responsible for securing, maintaining, and stewarding public funding for the agency’s overall operating budget. In addition to pursuing new funding sources and stewarding existing grants and contracts, the Director of Public Funding manages all government relationships and contracts and oversees two staff to ensure successful administration and performance of, as well as reporting on, all public contracts. This role collaborates closely with the Chief of Strategy, and the Chief Financial Officer, as well as the Finance and Development teams.
This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.
Your responsibilities:
Provide leadership and management of Public Funding program including supervising the Contracts Analyst and Senior Coordinator of Public Funding.
- Research, develop and submit funding proposals and related materials to public agencies.
- Establish strong relationships with key contacts within public agencies.
- Oversee contract compliance, including coordinating/managing the monitoring process, site visits, etc.
- Serve as the agency’s central point of contact for public funding issues – internal and external.
- Provide senior oversight of contract negotiations and approvals, with staff support for contract administration.
- Maintain and oversee staff to maintain tracking system for public grants (reporting calendar, issue log).
- Oversee staff to develop and submit reports to public and institutional funders. Work with the operations support team to develop internal processes and procedures to support ongoing performance management and successful contract monitoring visits. Inform and participate in funder advocacy strategy.
- Evaluate and facilitate discussions of potential public funding opportunities among executive, administrative, and program staff.
- Provide annual and periodic forecasts of public revenues.
- Design and implement grant policies and procedures for the Department.
- Facilitate goal setting and educate program staff about contract requirements as part of annual contracting cycle.

- You work best in a hybrid working environment, working from home up to 2 days per week.
