WHO WE ARE

Tonight, more than 1,100 young people will sleep in shelters or on the streets of San Francisco. Tomorrow must be different, and Larkin Street Youth Services is building the momentum to end youth homelessness through coordinated prevention efforts, direct services, and research and advocacy. Since 1984, Larkin Street has empowered more than 75,000 youth, ages 12-24, to build a better future. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for maintaining Larkin Streets portfolio of institutional funders, with a primary focus on corporations, foundations and civic/religious groups. Collaborating with members of the Development team and program staff, this position works to minimize attrition from the renewal portfolio, prospects new funders and drives increased revenue from current funders. The Institutional Giving Manager directly supervises the Grant Writer and Grant Consultant. 

This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.

Your responsibilities:

Corporate Grant Development and Management (60%) 

  • Working closely with the Senior Director of Institutional Giving, Grant Writer, Program Staff, and Research & Evaluation Team, develop accurate, compelling, and individualized letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other written communication to corporate and civic donors at all stages of the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process 
  • Develop grant budgets in partnership with Finance staff 
  • Lead the planning and coordination of funder visits 
  • Collaborate with Program and Finance Staff to track progress against current grant goals and expenditures, troubleshooting as necessary to ensure compliance 
  • Work with the Finance team to track and ensure the timely spend-down of grants 

Fundraising (20%)

  • Steward current institutional funders by developing relationships, hosting guests at Larkin Street events, inviting meetings and site visits, participating in external opportunities, sharing marketing and research materials, fostering and creating volunteer opportunities, and maintaining regular communication 
  • Identify current funders that have greater giving capacity, and develop and implement strategies to cultivate increased grants 
  • Cultivate relationships with lapsed funders when focus areas align with Larkin Streets mission 

Corporate and Community Engagement (15%)

  • Work with Community Impact team and Director of Institutional Giving to identify “volunteer to donor” corporate leads by developing and maintaining a pipeline strategy and systems for integrating volunteerism with donor cultivation and stewardship, including links with event management and integration with major donor prospects. 
  • Track and segment volunteers for communication and appeal purposes, maintaining metrics in the database for use with institutional and individual (employee) giving efforts 
  • Work closely with the Institutional Giving team and Director of Institutional Giving to proactively solicit engagement support from prospects 
  • Work with Development Associate to support in-kind program as needed. 

Tracking (5%)

  • Document all fundraising efforts (interactions, grant deliverables, etc.) in Salesforce NPSP in a timely manner 
  • Maintain the Private Grants Library in SharePoint uploading all documents submitted to funders 
  • Contribute to Institutional Giving and Development strategy utilizing knowledge of donors, trends, and programmatic priorities 
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required, including a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Work Group 
  • Other duties as assigned 

LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

This full-time hybrid position will require working onsite (711 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco) for three days/week, depending on job duties and agency requirements. May also include occasional local travel to and from partner organizations, businesses, and donors. Depending on the events schedule, it may occasionally require working evenings or weekends. 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
  • You have experience working in non-profit fundraising, with experience in grant writing. Your experience in events is preferred. 
  • You have graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • You pride yourself in attention to detail, customer service, and follow-through. You are eager to take initiative to fill in gaps and identify new institutional funding opportunities.
  • You are a superior relationship-builder with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen attentively and speak persuasively.
  • You are experienced in workplace software, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, Classy (app), Click-Bid, RingCentral is preferred.
