Shipping Lead- 1st Shift

Job Description/Summary

 The Shipping Lead will oversee and participate with the unloading, loading and storing processes of all inbound and outbound for the current day’s production. The Lead will be responsible for making sure the team is staying on task and completing daily work activities. The Lead inspires, motivates and provides guidance to employees to meet daily tasks and reach certain goals.

 Essential Functions

  • Check truck drivers in and out making sure they are being loaded with the correct order and product and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete and correct and turned into the main shipping office daily.
  • Scan and send paperwork for incoming deliveries throughout the day as loads are completed.
  • Copy the DC manager and designated supervisor on all emails concerning transfers, pickups and deliveries of products or supplies.
  • IDS’s are to be completed correctly and turned into the main shipping office daily.
  • Verify that product delivering or shipping to or from your warehouse is correct per the IDS and that the quantities are correct. Do not assume that incoming paperwork is correct.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.
  • Keep all models stacked neatly. Restack or down-stack leaning product that is in danger of falling over.
  • Check daily for any product that needs to be reworked and rework it if possible. Don’t let damages accumulate.
  • Keep track of and check physical inventory of product when orders are received and scheduled for pickups. Notify shipping supervisor of any known or discovered shortages before loads are to be picked up.
  • Perform random or specific requested cycle counts and report any physical inventory discrepancies to the shipping supervisor.
  • Immediately notify the shipping supervisor or DC manager of any problems with employees, equipment or the warehouse.
  • Oversee loaders and rework personnel to ensure that they are doing their job(s) correctly and safely.
  • Report attendance issues to the shipping supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Allocate necessary space for stock rotation and assist with proper FIFO process.
  • Complete and turn in a Monthly Safety Check of the warehouse and turn it into the shipping supervisor by the last Friday of every month.
  • Lead, support and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment - both inside and out.
  • Where trained, proactively identify and report to warehouse manager possible safety hazards.
  • Timely, report accidents or near miss incidents as required by the Safety Program.
  • Report any maintenance needs for the facility and or equipment to the maintenance manager and shipping supervisor / DC manager via telephone, email and or service requests depending on the urgency of the needed repairs.
  • Service requests should be submitted when feasible. Service requests will be submitted by a supervisor or the DC manager until the DC manager deems it is appropriate to assign this duty to the lead person.
  • Make sure lifts are being checked and blown out daily.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Proficient Data Entry skills
  • Working knowledge of web-based inventory
  • Basic computer knowledge with Windows based programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • Must have strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and product flow, as well as the systems modules pertaining to receiving, transferring, picking and billing
  • Must have at least four (4) years’ experience in warehouse environment
  • Must have experience on material handling equipment (i.e. forklift)
  • Experience in the supervision of personnel a plus.
  • Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • Sound decision-making abilities

 Work Environment

Office/warehouse environment is both a controlled and uncontrolled atmosphere building. The manufacturing environment you will be exposed to dust, odors, and noise.  Extensive visits to the outdoor shipping dock and holding yard required
