Material Handler Lead 2nd Shift
Job Description/Summary
The Material Handler Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of material handlers to ensure accurate and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials. This is a working lead position, meaning the individual will perform material handling duties in addition to providing direction and training to the team.
Essential Functions
- Lead and assist with daily operations related to receiving, storing, staging, and shipping materials.
- Assign work to material handlers based on production and shipping schedules.
- Train and mentor new and existing team members on warehouse procedures and safety protocols.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in conducting regular cycle counts or physical inventories.
- Communicate with supervisors and other departments to coordinate material flow and resolve issues.
- Ensure all safety guidelines and company policies are followed on the warehouse floor.
- Assist in identifying process improvements and implementing solutions for efficiency.
- Fill in for absent team members as needed to maintain operational continuity.
Performance Monitoring
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse efficiency
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement process changes to optimize warehouse operations.
- Communicate regularly with management regarding team performance and any issues.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with day-to-day assignments.
- Ability to operate a forklift, clamp truck, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Ability to lift heavy/light weight items safely up to 75 pounds at a time.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a Plus.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime when required.

Work Environment
Office/warehouse environment is both a controlled and uncontrolled atmosphere building. The manufacturing environment you will be exposed to dust, odors, and noise. Extensive visits to the outdoor shipping dock and holding yard required.
