Team Lead – Press & Paint

Franklin, Tennessee

Position Summary 

The Team Lead for Press & Paint is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Press and Paint areas to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met. This position provides hands-on support in production processes, coaching employees, monitoring equipment, and maintaining proper documentation to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality output throughout the shift. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Shift Leadership 

  • Conduct start-of-shift team meetings (assign stations, review production targets, PPE/safety review). 
  • Ensure all presses and paint equipment are properly set up and running at shift start. 
  • Coordinate with previous and next shift to ensure smooth transitions and accurate hand-off reporting. 

Production Monitoring & Efficiency 

  • Monitor hourly production counts versus targets across Press & Paint operations. 
  • Ensure downtime, adjustments, and scrap are recorded accurately. 
  • Maintain production boards and required documentation. 
  • Investigate scrap trends and escalate equipment issues to maintenance or supervision. 

Quality & Safety Assurance 

  • Perform routine quality inspections (including 30-minute checks in Press). 
  • Confirm operators follow SOPs, quality standards, and safety procedures. 
  • Immediately communicate and address quality issues to prevent rework or defects. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace in alignment with 5S requirements. 

Employee Support & Training 

  • Assist operators with setups and basic troubleshooting. 
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training to ensure team members are qualified for assigned positions. 
  • Provide real-time feedback and coaching to improve performance, safety, and productivity. 
  • Monitor attendance and adherence to company policies and report concerns appropriately. 

Communication & Reporting 

  • Complete production reports, downtime logs, quality records, and daily results summaries. 
  • Communicate major issues to the Production Supervisor or Press & Shop Manager promptly. 
  • Submit material and tooling requests as needed to maintain workflow. 

 Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing/production experience; leadership experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Press, Stamping, and/or Paint processes strongly preferred. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Basic computer skills (data entry/reporting). 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on feet throughout the shift. 

 

Work Environment 

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, paint materials, and chemicals. 
  • PPE required at all times. 

 Schedule 

  • Full-time, 2nd Shift. 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM 
  • Flexibility to support 3rd shift operations if business needs require. 
  • Saturday overtime when needed
