
Accounting Supervisor

About this position:
The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial systems and reports, and ensuring compliance with the company’s internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles and will have managed all phases of the accounting cycle for both US and Canadian entities. The Accounting Supervisor will manage the company’s general ledger, working closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and FP&A, as well as cross-functionally with other Later team members.
What you'll be doing:
General Ledger
- Complete various aspects of the Company’s monthly financial close within strict close timetables (areas including, but not limited to, revenue and deferred revenue, leases, intercompany accounting, prepaids, payroll journal entries, and others)
- Prepare journal entries with clear and accurate supporting documentation
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis
- Provide thoughtful commentary on monthly financial variance analysis
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal stakeholders
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required periodic reports and payments
- Ensure compliance with various Canadian federal and provincial reporting requirements and filings (eg, monthly GST and PST filings and payments)
Internal Controls
- Work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager to develop, maintain and document internal control policies and procedures
- Assist in developing and driving adoption of new systems and processes to help drive operational efficiency
- Review and recommend process improvements related to accounting systems and procedures
Audit and Risk Management
- Coordinate and assist in managing external audits to ensure timely and successful delivery of audit results Assist in research and preparation of technical accounting memos for complex accounting transactions and to ensure compliance with new developments in accounting guidanceIdentify, communicate, and help mitigate any accounting, statutory, or financial reporting risks as they arise
- Assist in department-wide cross-training efforts and ensure backups exist for all major general accounting functions
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with cross functional teams including FP&A, Legal, and People teams to investigate variances, identify and resolve process inefficiencies, and expedite resolution of issues Respond to internal inquiries regarding accounting matters, entity compliance, and payment status
- Support future business transactions, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration of financial processes.
- Support other Finance team members with ad hoc projects and requests

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification required
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, public accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, including revenue recognition and others
- Experience in the SaaS or technology industry is highly desirable
- Strong accounting systems experience; NetSuite experience preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment establishing priorities and managing multiple tasks and demands
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments

Our approach to compensation:
We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors.
Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.
To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted.
Additionally, all permanent team members are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.
Salary Range:
$115,000 - 129,000 USD
