Software Engineer II, Labeling

Meet the team:
The Labeling team is part of the Intelligent Systems organization responsible for tools and services for providing labeled “ground truth” log data used for model training and evaluation. Our services include a data pipeline for media extraction and processing, orchestration of human labeling operations, custom web-based tools for viewing and editing labeled log data, metrics, monitoring, validation and data discovery. Endless exciting challenges exist as we develop new, innovative tools and services that incorporate, visualize, manipulate and interact with both human and machine-generated labels. What you’ll do:
- Use languages including Python to build our large scale data labeling services, and Typescript to build our frontend web tools
- Implement automated testing of code, including unit tests, integration tests and end-to-end testing.
- Build upon a suite of automated data validations which are designed to improve dataset quality
- Automate infrastructure to test, validate, and graduate product releases using Jenkins, Terraform, and Kubernetes
- Implement strong product quality, performance, and security practices
- Build metrics and dashboards to track operational health and dataset characteristics
- Investigate new approaches and technologies that can be leveraged for next generation solutions
What you'll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree, or PhD
- Strong software skills in Python and/or TypeScript
- Experience with backend infrastructure such as PostgreSQL and nginx
- Experience with frontend web development frameworks including React and Redux
- Experience deploying/managing infrastructure in public cloud environments such as AWS or GCP
- Belief in rigorous, reliable, high-quality engineering that produces tangible results quickly
- Excited in leading by example applying and evangelizing state of the art development methodologies
- Experience with the challenges of integration, and the need to iterate quickly but with a purposeful plan to build towards larger longer-term goals
- Excellent communication skills are required given our distributed and diverse team
Nice to have:
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Column oriented Big Data databases such as BigQuery or RedShift
- WebGL graphics or libraries such as Three.js
- Experience with workflow management / orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Dagster, Camunda BPMN)

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $146,000 - $219,000 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude’s annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
