Automotive Engineering Technician - Contractor (Pittsburgh)

Meet the team:
Mechanical Hardware Engineers at Latitude AI are responsible for leading the mechanical integration of sensors and computers for next generation automated driving systems into the vehicle platform. Engineering technicians are responsible for partnering closely with their engineering counterparts to design and build test assets including vehicles and benches.
What you’ll do:
- Perform vehicle teardowns to prepare for upfit with development hardware installation
- Build harnesses for vehicles and benches
- Perform vehicle modifications such as drilling added holes and cutting openings in fascia
- Assemble development hardware onto vehicles
- Build rack mounted bench setups with development hardware
- Work with engineering counterparts on hand-off of new test assets and troubleshooting any issues
What you'll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree with two years of employment experience or a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with five years of employment experience is required
- Expertise as a vehicle technician
- Electrical and mechanical skills for vehicle and bench builds
- Willingness and mindset to ask critical questions and provide feedback to the engineering teams
- Ambition and ability to learn new skills such as running test scripts, updating firmware, etc
- Puts safety first, taking proactive steps to minimize risk in all work and ensure any concerns are resolved
- Continuous improvement mindset developing and implementing ideas to improve the work environment and processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Teamwork and strong cross-functional communication skills are essential
Nice to have:
- History working closely with engineering teams
- Experience building harnesses
- Machining expertise
