Vice President, IT and Internal AI

Remote - US

About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is hiring a Vice President of IT & Internal AI to serve as the single accountable leader for the company’s internal technology strategy, enterprise systems, and AI-driven transformation as the business scales from ~$200M ARR toward its next phase of growth.

This role exists to ensure LaunchDarkly’s internal technology is not merely functional, but a competitive advantage—driving execution speed, productivity, resilience, and cost efficiency across the company. The VP, IT & Internal AI will elevate IT from a service-oriented function into a strategic, AI-first enablement organization that reduces friction, simplifies operations, and materially improves how work gets done.

Reporting to the CFO, this leader will own enterprise architecture, core business systems, IT operations, integrations, continuity, and internal AI initiatives. They will partner deeply with Finance, Security, Engineering, GTM, People, and the Executive Team to modernize the company’s internal technology stack while ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.

The VP, IT & Internal AI will:

  • Operate IT and enterprise systems with minimal executive oversight, while maintaining CFO-level rigor and risk awareness
  • Establish a clear, modern internal technology and AI strategy aligned with LaunchDarkly’s growth ambitions
  • Deliver reliable, secure, and scalable systems that executives and employees trust
  • Drive step-change improvements in automation, productivity, and cost efficiency through AI and simplification
  • Position IT as a proactive strategic partner—not a bottleneck or reactive support function
  • Build a scalable IT operating model appropriate for a $200M–$400M+ ARR SaaS company

Responsibilities:

Internal Technology Strategy & Enterprise Architecture

  • Own and evolve LaunchDarkly’s internal technology roadmap, enterprise architecture, and systems strategy
  • Lead principled build vs. buy decisions with a long-term, AI-aware perspective
  • Modernize legacy tools, workflows, and integrations to reduce complexity and technical debt
  • Ensure architectural decisions scale with company growth and increasing operational sophistication

Core IT Operations, Reliability & Risk

  • Own day-to-day IT operations, service management, and employee technology experience
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of business-critical systems
  • Partner closely with Security on identity & access management, controls, compliance, and incident response
  • Establish strong business continuity and disaster recovery practices appropriate for a scaling SaaS company

Enterprise Applications, Integrations & Data Integrity

  • Oversee the health, configuration, and integration of core enterprise systems across Finance, HR, GTM, and collaboration platforms
  • Ensure data flows cleanly, securely, and reliably across systems
  • Partner with Finance, Data Engineering, and Analytics to strengthen data governance and system-level integrity
  • Reduce duplication, manual reconciliation, and brittle point-to-point integrations

AI Strategy & Transformation

  • Serve as the executive owner of LaunchDarkly’s internal AI strategy and execution roadmap
  • Identify and deliver high-impact AI use cases (agents, automation, workflow acceleration, decision support)
  • Drive measurable reductions in manual work, cycle time, and operational cost
  • Balance AI-driven innovation with appropriate governance, risk management, and controls
  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on how AI is reshaping enterprise software and operating models

Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Act as a trusted technology partner to Finance, GTM, Product, Engineering, People, and Security
  • Translate business needs into scalable, well-architected solutions
  • Enable faster decision-making and execution through thoughtful systems design
  • Drive alignment and outcomes through credibility, influence, and strong execution

IT Operating Model & Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing IT organization
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and operating rhythms
  • Define and track metrics that measure IT’s impact on reliability, cost, speed, and productivity
  • Build a culture that balances service excellence with transformation mindset

Qualifications:

Enterprise IT & SaaS Scale Experience

  • Proven experience leading IT and enterprise systems in a B2B SaaS company at ~$200M+ ARR
  • Experience modernizing internal systems during periods of rapid growth and operational complexity
  • Strong understanding of how Finance, GTM, Product, and Engineering organizations depend on internal technology

AI-First & Transformation Orientation

  • Demonstrated experience driving AI-enabled automation or enterprise transformation initiatives
  • Clear perspective on how AI changes workflows, cost structures, and team design
  • Track record of delivering tangible productivity and cost outcomes—not just deploying tools

Operational Rigor & Risk Awareness

  • Strong grounding in IT operations, identity & access management, risk mitigation, and business continuity
  • Experience partnering closely with Security and compliance teams
  • Appreciation for the operational and reputational risk associated with enterprise systems

Executive Presence & Judgment

  • Clear, confident communicator who can engage credibly with executives, technical teams, and cross-functional leaders
  • Strong prioritization skills with the judgment to balance speed and rigor

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
