
Administrative Operations Manager
Layer Health was founded in 2023 by leading machine learning researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School. We are building an AI layer that can accurately and scalably synthesize information from medical records, with the mission to reduce friction everywhere in healthcare. Our LLM-powered platform is solving chart review once and for all, across use cases. For health systems, our first product dramatically accelerates clinical registry abstraction in areas ranging from surgery and cardiology, to oncology. Our long term vision is for our AI layer to safely transform patient care and minimize unnecessary heartbreak. We’re currently hiring an Administrative Operations Manager (based in Downtown Boston / hybrid, 3-5 days a week onsite). The Administrative Operations Manager will oversee the company’s daily operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and alignment with our strategic goals. You’ll work closely with our leadership team to optimize processes, manage resources, and execute growth strategies. The ideal fit is a hands-on doer and strategic leader with a solid background in operations management from an early stage startup that saw various growth inflection points.
Areas you can expect to cover:
Finance
- Act as the interface between our controller and internal business owners at Layer to provide context on billing and other financial considerations.
Human Resources
- Help own new employee onboarding, including provisioning laptop equipment, setting up gsuite accounts, etc.
- Partner with our Head of Talent to coordinate virtual and onsite interviews.
- Work directly with the benefits administrator to coordinate benefits.
- Ensure employees and contractors are in compliance with current training, hardware, and other policies.
Resource Management
- Oversee budgets, procurement, and relationships with vendors to maximize cost-effectiveness.
- Manage office operations as we scale, ensuring an optimal work environment for employees.
Risk & Compliance
- Provide coordination of compliance efforts across Engineering, HR, and other departments; gather and compile documentation and evidence as needed to satisfy our current compliance framework requirements (SOC2, HIPAA, etc.).
- With guidance from organizational leaders, quote and procure appropriate insurance.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure a secure and compliant operational framework.
- Monitor contract compliance.
Event planning
- Take lead in organizing internal team events.
- Swag ideation and procurement.
We look for:
- 1-2 years of experience in operations, business management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of scaling operations in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with a focus on prioritization.
- Proficiency with operational tools and platforms (e.g. performance management / CRM / workflow automation tools).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- An adaptable and enthusiastic team player who is excited to work in a fast-paced and comfortable with some ambiguity.
Expected compensation range for this role is $90,000-120,000 salary. Compensation is dependent on experience, overall fit to our role, and candidate location. Expected compensation ranges for this role may change over time. If your compensation requirement is greater than our posted salary ranges, please still consider applying to our role.
