Associate Director, Data Generalist

United States

What We Do
At Leading Educators (LE), we know that excellent teaching is the most important driver of student success. The moment a student steps foot in the classroom, their opportunity to learn depends on how prepared their teacher is to translate complex content knowledge, standards, and their knowledge of that student into lessons that help them learn deeply and apply their thinking to the real world.

That’s a big lift, and it often happens alone. As a national nonprofit, we partner with school systems to overcome persistent instructional challenges, foster intentional collaboration and adult learning by design, and ignite new possibilities through systemic solutions at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators at every level of the education system to strengthen their instructional and leadership practices, bring a vision for excellent instruction to life with consistency, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Through direct support, strategic advising, innovation pilots, and best-in-class research, we help educators work toward a future where every student is ready to thrive. Learn more about our work at leadingeducators.org.

Position

At Leading Educators, we believe that excellent teaching transforms student outcomes. Our Data Generalist plays a vital role in making this happen by ensuring that high-quality data informs every strategic decision we make—from our research initiatives to our work with school systems across the country.

This is a newly created position with a unique opportunity: you'll help shape how our Research, Data Strategy, and Data Systems teams operate while gaining broad exposure to every stage of the data lifecycle. You'll be the critical connector between research, analytics, and operational execution—translating complex data into actionable insights that strengthen our organizational strategy and improve educational outcomes.

Working under the shared leadership of our Research and Data Strategy teams, you'll gain broad exposure to every stage of our research, analytics, and data operations. As you onboard, you'll orient our full portfolio of projects, develop a deep understanding of our organizational strategy, and build fluency in the systems, processes, and partnerships that power data-informed decision making across Leading Educators.

You'll quickly become a trusted operational partner—creating project plans, meeting agendas, documentation, and tracking tools that keep complex, cross-functional initiatives organized, aligned, and moving forward. You'll coordinate work across multiple teams, ensuring priorities remain visible, stakeholders stay connected, and key deliverables are executed with excellence.

As your understanding of our work grows, you'll take increasing ownership of analytical projects—from cleaning, validating, and organizing data to conducting quantitative analyses, building dashboards and reports, and translating findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. You'll contribute to larger cross-functional initiatives while developing the confidence and expertise to independently lead smaller projects that directly inform organizational strategy and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, learning new technical skills, and balancing analytical thinking with project coordination. Success requires curiosity, analytical rigor, exceptional organization, strong relationship-building, and the adaptability to navigate evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment. If you're energized by solving meaningful problems, collaborating across teams, and using data to strengthen organizational strategy and improve educational outcomes, you'll find this to be a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Do you have expertise in…

  • Quantitative data analysis and statistical methods, with the ability to clean, organize, and validate datasets from multiple sources
  • Project coordination and management, with proven success juggling multiple concurrent priorities and keeping teams aligned
  • Data visualization and communication, translating technical analyses into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • Research methodologies and processes, including survey development, literature synthesis, and research logistics
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data management, analysis, and reporting tools, including:
    • SurveyMonkey (or similar survey platforms)
    • Excel
    • SQL
    • Power BI
    • Tableau
    • Other comparable business intelligence tools for developing dashboards and actionable reports.

Do you enjoy…

  • Diving into complex problems and discovering creative solutions? You'll tackle analytical challenges that directly inform organizational strategy and improve how we support educators nationwide.
  • Building strong relationships and adapting quickly to shifting priorities? You'll work cross-functionally with Research, Data Strategy, and Data Systems teams in a dynamic environment where your flexibility drives impact.
  • Seeing the direct impact of your work? You'll know that the data you manage and insights you communicate help educators serve students more effectively every single day.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making? You'll help shape how Leading Educators uses data to strengthen our mission and drive meaningful change in education.

If you've answered affirmatively to these questions and meet the following prerequisites, we urge you to seize this opportunity. This role calls for the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Education Research, Social Sciences, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, research, analytics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or coordinating multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proven experience supporting research projects or working with research methodologies
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to varied audiences
  • Ability to travel 1–3 times per year for organizational retreats, programming, and professional development
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States

Travel Requirements

  • This is a remote position that requires travel 1–3 times per year.
    • National travel for org retreats, programming, job related travel, or professional development and other job-related travel.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
