About the Opportunity

We're seeking a dynamic Senior Legal Counsel to join our team and play a pivotal role in our sales organization's success. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, as a key advisor, you'll navigate complex commercial agreements, lead crucial negotiations, and contribute to our continued growth in the fast-paced SaaS industry. This isn't just a legal role; it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and make a real impact.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic Partnership: Act as a trusted legal advisor to our sales team and other business units, providing guidance on diverse and complex revenue-generating commercial matters.
- Negotiation Leadership: Spearhead negotiations and offer expert counsel on enterprise SaaS agreements and licensing arrangements, ensuring favorable outcomes and risk mitigation.
- Contract Excellence: Draft, review, negotiate, and provide comprehensive guidance on a wide range of commercial agreements, driving efficiency and compliance.
- Client Engagement: Collaborate with external enterprise clients, partners, advisors, and vendors on legal matters, building strong relationships and fostering trust.
- Dispute Resolution: Support management by advising on contract interpretation and resolving disputes, protecting the company's interests.
- External Counsel Management: Oversee external legal counsel as needed, ensuring high-quality service and cost-effectiveness.
What You Bring:
- Legal Experience: 5+ years of experience in private practice or in-house at a company specializing in enterprise SaaS contracting.
- Education: A J.D./LL.B, in good standing with a Canadian Law Society.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to lead complex commercial negotiations and achieve successful results.
- Global Perspective: Experience with cross-border transactions and negotiating with international counterparties (US/Canada required; UK/EU, Australia is a plus).
- Independence & Agility: Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving tech environment, managing tight deadlines and prioritizing effectively.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
- Legal Area of Expertises: Experience with information technology, software, and SaaS is essential.
- Bonus Points: Experience with AI, data privacy, or the healthcare/insurance industry is a valuable asset
Security-Related Responsibilities
- Ensure access management is performed in compliance with the employee's role and responsibilities
- Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures within the department/ team
- Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations
- Compliance with Information Security Policies

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience. $190,000 - $230,000 CAD
