Generative AI Engineer

Amsterdam

Generative AI Engineer

Our team of approximately 90 engineers is working in small scrum teams. Each team has end-to-end responsibility for a specific product or part of our architecture. We work on a remote-first basis, coming together in person at our Amsterdam headquarters twice a year.

Our organizational structure is flat, placing a high value on independence and entrepreneurship. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, creating a highly motivating work environment in which you will work with some of the most inspiring colleagues in the industry.

What is the role about:

As an AI Engineer focused on internal automation, you will play a key role in transforming how we operate as a cloud hosting provider. Your mission is to identify inefficiencies in internal workflows, design intelligent automation solutions, and implement AI-powered tools that boost efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across departments such as operations, support, infrastructure, and finance.

This is a hands-on role that blends technical expertise in AI tooling with a understanding of cloud infrastructure and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy AI models or integrate existing LLM-based tools (e.g. for ticket triage, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, log analysis, contract summarization, etc.).
  • Integrate platforms like n8n, LangChain, AutoGen, Zapier, or open-source alternatives to rapidly prototype and scale automations.
  • Access and process structured and unstructured internal data (e.g., logs, metrics, tickets, CRM, billing) to fuel intelligent systems.
  • Partner with Engineering teams, Support, Finance, and Security to ensure AI solutions align with technical realities and compliance needs.
  • Ensure reliability, accuracy, and maintainability of deployed models or workflows; handle retraining, updating, or refining as needed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong programming skills ideally with AI/ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, OpenAI API, Hugging Face).
  • Hands-on experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, LangChain, Airflow, etc.).
  • Experience in AI, automation, or data engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting environments and infrastructure tooling (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes, Prometheus, ELK).
  • Ability to design and implement AI/LLM use cases like summarization, classification, anomaly detection, or chatbot-style interfaces.
  • Experience in deploying, configuring, and managing self-hosted large language models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security principles

Nice to Have

  • Experience integrating LLMs in internal tools (e.g., Mattermost, Slack, CRM).
  • Knowledge of observability tools and metrics-driven automation (e.g., automating alert response).
  • Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Contributions to open-source AI/ML or automation projects.

Benefits include :

  • Participation in annual company bonus scheme and company pension
  • Internet allowance
  • Working from home policy
  • Work from abroad: Up to 4 weeks per year, following policy guidelines
  • Lease bike plan
  • 25 days of paid time off (and the option to buy or sell up to 5 more days)
  • Free lunch, parking, and fresh fruit provided when in the office
  • Access to the Leaseweb Academy, a personalized learning platform offering a variety of studies, (Dutch) courses, and trainings
  • Attractive relocation packages and an agency that takes care of the entire visa process
  • Fun events year-round – from virtual pub quizzes to summer parties, company runs, quarterly hackathons and much more
  • A multicultural work environment (our colleagues are from over 60 countries!) in a company where you can truly make a difference
