LEEP Dual Language Academy Charter School serves students in grades K-5. At LEEP our educators use effective instructional techniques to provide a high-quality dual language program, located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. About the Role

The Culture Associate is responsible for providing behavioral support to students, ensuring students are on task, and that the behavior expectations established by the school culture team are implemented in a consistent, caring, and disciplined manner. 

The Culture Associate will execute the vision for school culture and is responsible for shaping and sustaining school-wide systems, processes, and opportunities for students to internalize and uphold the school's values for academic excellence and community building; and functions as support to the staff in the implementation of school-wide systems and procedures related to school culture and behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students and MTSS Team in driving and sustaining the school's culture framework, which includes student data collection and  analysis.
  • Provide 1:1, small group, and whole class support and remediation based on ongoing observations. 
  • Help monitor uniform compliance as scholars enter the building in the morning.
  • Respond and follow the response to the behavior systems and procedures of behavior referrals. 
  • Support escalated students using SEL and RC practices. 
  • Input all behavior-related data into the behavior data software. 
  • Attend and participate in culture team meetings and professional development.
  • Monitor and support scholars who are in alternative placements.
  • Support DOS with any culture-huddles for families and students to support cultural initiatives within the school.
  • In collaboration with the DOS, support the development, implementation, and revision of culturally relevant and responsive systems for all grade and developmental levels.
  • In collaboration with the DOS, analyze and present culture data to identify areas of focus for improvement.
  • Plan and co-facilitate community meetings and other school-wide culture-building activities in partnership with the Dean of Students and MTSS Team.
  • Additional duties, including lunch and recess coverage, as assigned.
  • Support Arrival/Dismissal procedures. 
  • In collaboration with Dean of Student, Social Worker, and School counselors, support the planning and execution of RTB committee meetings. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Bilingual and have 1-3 years of professional experience with students, or related fieldsfield.
  • High professional and ethical standards.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students and communities.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working with First Generation, and/or economically-vulnerable students.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving environment.

Compensation

The starting compensation for this role is between $24.00 to $28.00 per hour. The starting salary will depend on multiple factors including professional experience, education, and certifications. This is a full-time position.
