 The Opportunity:

LSNYC is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Manager to assist the Compliance Officer in ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies. This role will focus on identifying internal and external compliance risks, implementing controls to mitigate those risks, monitoring and reporting on compliance process effectiveness, and resolving compliance challenges as they arise. The Compliance Manager will also assist with case-related compliance, monitor employees’ legislative advocacy, prepare lobbying reports to government agencies, and support funder-driven audits and training.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and funder requirements, including Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations.
  • Address and resolve compliance difficulties as they occur and provide ongoing guidance to staff.

Case & Grants Compliance Management:

  • Review cases, perform analytics, identify patterns, and make necessary corrections within LegalServer case management system.
  • Analyze compliance requirements across grants and contracts annually to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Track and maintain compliance records related to grants and provide support for funder-driven audits.
  • Liaise with Compliance Officer to develop strategies to ensure corrective actions are implemented when compliance issues arise.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Monitor compliance data reports generated by the LegalServer case management system to ensure adherence to LSC regulations regarding client eligibility, required documentation, and information management.
  • Track and oversee legislative advocacy and lobbying activities to ensure proper reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare compliance reports highlighting risks, findings, and recommended actions.

Training & Staff Support:

  • Assist in designing and conducting compliance training sessions for small and large groups.
  • Serve as a resource to staff at all levels, providing guidance on compliance requirements and expectations.
  • Facilitate conversations on compliance-related matters, balancing programmatic needs with regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across the organization to promote a culture of compliance.

And other duties and tasks as assigned by the Compliance Officer.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, public administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in compliance, legal services, or a related role.
  • Experience with LegalServer or other case management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work efficiently across administrative lines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a direct service environment, preferably in legal services or nonprofit organizations.
  • Commitment to social justice and experience supporting diverse, low-income communities.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment while engaging in challenging compliance discussions.
  • Experience designing and conducting professional training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with funder audits.
  • Familiarity with legislative advocacy and lobbying compliance.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $110,000/year
