Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) fights poverty and seeks racial, social and economic justice for low-income New Yorkers. EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PROJECT DIRECTOR & DEPUTY PROJECT DIRECTOR
BRONX LEGAL SERVICES
Bronx Legal Services seeks a highly skilled Executive Assistant to support the Project Director, Deputy Project Director in a large, dynamic, community-based legal advocacy organization in the South Bronx. This is a senior administrative and operational role reporting directly to the Project Director and working closely with the leadership team.
Our Organization: Bronx Legal Services is part of Legal Services NYC, the largest provider of free civil legal services for low-income people in the country. Bronx Legal Services has worked tirelessly for nearly six decades to provide high-quality innovative representation to address the pressing needs of the Bronx’s diverse low-income population, in the areas of housing, homeowner protection, public benefits, access to healthcare, disability rights, family law, immigration law, consumer law, access to education, and employment rights. Salary and Compensation: The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience-- $78,370-$120,788
LSNYC’s Expansive Benefits Package includes: exceptional healthcare with low copays (for which employees pay only 1% of their salaries per year), comprehensive dental insurance, a vision plan, generous vacation days (21 days the first year; 28 days/year thereafter) that people routinely use, plus 14 paid holidays and 18 sick days/year. The position is hybrid permitting up to 50% remote work, job duties permitting.
The Opportunity and Responsibilities: The Executive Assistant serves as a key liaison between the Project Director, staff, board members, elected officials, and external partners, and plays a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the office. The ideal candidate is highly organized, exercises excellent judgment, maintains discretion with confidential matters, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The Executive Assistant to the Project Director and Deputy Project Director will support leadership in the following areas, often with deadline pressure:
- Assist in evaluating, improving, and implementing office systems, procedures, and workflows
- Assisting with grants, audits, compliance and fiscal related tasks
- Providing back up administrative support to the Board of Directors
- Providing administrative support for the hiring process and onboarding of staff, interns and volunteers, including HR-related documents
- Assisting with facilities management for a multi-site office;
- Managing correspondence and coordinating with elected officials and community groups;
- Assisting with community outreach and intern program-related tasks;
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings and events;
- Coordinating and communicating with our central office and other borough offices;
- Special projects as assigned by the Project Director and Deputy Project Director
Requirements: The successful candidate must have the following skills:
- 5-8 years of previous secretarial or administrative assistance experience is required;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Strong commitment to social justice, interest, and experience working with and supporting diverse, low-income communities;
- Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to interface successfully with board members, government officials, and private funders
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Proficient in the entire MS Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro with the ability to learn additional software;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and able to meet deadlines;
- Experience with office administration and communications;
- Collaborative team player and works well independently;
- Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment.
- Experience working with the Bronx low-income communities and/or local community-based organizations is preferred;

Salary Range
$78,370 - $120,788 USD
