Legend Biotech is seeking Sr. Director of Commercial Insights and Operations as part of the Commercial team based in Somerset, NJ. 

Role Overview

The Sr. Director of Commercial Insights and Operations is responsible for driving strategic commercial and financial success through comprehensive forecasting, data analytics, market insights, business intelligence, and commercial operations support. This role involves collaborating cross-functionally with our partner JNJ and internally with Finance, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Investor Relations, and Business Development teams across both US and international markets. The position reports directly to the Head of Global Commercial.

Key Responsibilities  

Forecasting & Analytics:

  • Collaborate with alliance counterparts to develop forecasts for our inline asset, CARVYKTI. Lead the creation of forecasts that consider the impact of critical events, ensuring they are logically structured, thoroughly documented, and reflect consensus decision-making among key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership in uncovering actionable insights to enhance commercial potential by effectively identifying and prioritizing relevant risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of competitors and market dynamics to enhance forecasting models and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Support brand strategy development by integrating insights from multiple functions and capability areas to form an objective and cohesive perspective.
  • Utilize scenario planning and advanced simulation models, such as Monte Carlo analysis and statistical trending, to quantify uncertainty effectively.
  • Leverage a comprehensive understanding of diverse pharmaceutical data sources, including claims, epidemiology, and both primary and secondary market research, to develop and implement advanced forecasting methodologies and approaches.
  • Direct the design of essential market research studies to validate forecast assumptions, structure, and patient populations within a specific disease area.

Market Research & Business Intelligence:

  • Lead market research initiatives for CAR-T markets, both in the US and internationally, for the inline asset CARVYKTI, in collaboration with our partners at JNJ.
  • Spearhead and engage in cross-functional workstreams to establish market research priorities.
  • Proactively address critical business insights to inform brand strategy and tactics, collaborating with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Insights, Operations) and external partners (JNJ).
  • Develop a foundational understanding of the marketplace by creating treatment flow maps, conducting market segmentation, testing attributes/benefits, and developing positioning and campaigns.
  • Conduct primary research by designing qualitative and quantitative market studies involving physicians, patients, treatment center coordinators, nurses, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize comprehensive market research to gain deep insights into institutional and market access trends, driving strategic initiatives that enhance market positioning and optimize access strategies to ensure CARVYKTI reaches the patients who need it most.
  • Oversee vendors to select appropriate research methodologies, ensure alignment with business objectives, and guide project execution and reporting.
  • Present and facilitate discussions on results and insights in a collaborative and efficient manner to various internal stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Develop and execute market research plans and budgets to support brand strategy and tactics.

Team Leadership:

    • Manage and develop a high-performing Market Insights, Data Analytics, and Commercial Operations team that supports the strategic needs of Commercial and corporate partners.
    • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Promote a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Finance, Financial Management, or related field; MS or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in consulting, equity research, forecasting, market research and business intelligence in pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • 4+ years of experience in hiring and managing team with performance planning.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
