Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

 

Legend Biotech is seeking Sr. Scientist as part of the Novel CAR Design team based in Piscataway, NJ. 

Role Overview

We are seeking an initiative-taking and creative scientist to grow our pipeline efforts. The candidate will be part of Legend Biotech, a leading cell therapy company with a commercial CAR drug product CARVYKTI and an attractive pipeline portfolio. The candidate will be an integral part of our R&D team, whose aim is to research, develop and advance the next generation of cell therapies using innovative in vivo delivery technologies and create novel CAR designs for a wide range of human autoimmune disease indications. This position will focus on in-vivo CAR. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, outstanding skills in the art, diligence, and a desire to create new medicines for patients.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead, design and optimize research with aims of exploring next generation cell therapies using in-vivo CAR-T.
  • Contribute to project creation and formation through dissection of published literature to find novel solutions to in-vivo cell therapy problems.
  • Isolate immune cells from leukopak or blood from healthy donors or patients and execute the evaluation of in-vivo CAR virus using in-vitro assays and in-vivo mice models.
  • Perform research requiring cell biology techniques including cell culture, transfection, FACS, and cell-based assays.
  • Package and titer engineered viruses to infect immune cells in vitro and in vivo; Characterize virus particle with protein and PCR based assays; Measure transduction rate using flow and VCN analysis.
  • Generate, manage, evaluate, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner, including the use of ELN.
  • Deliver result to meet timeline with accountability through presentation to a wide range of audiences of internal group meetings and other forums.
  • Maintain compliance with GLP and EHS protocols

Requirements

  • PhD in Immunology or related discipline
  • 4 years of experience in the field of cell therapy, in vivo CAR-T experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience in immune cell-based analytics and assay development including but not limited to advanced multi-parameter flow-cytometry, immunogenicity assay such as mixed lymphocyte reaction assay, cytotoxicity assay, cytokine release ELISA/MSD multiplex assays.
  • Experience with lentivirus particle characterization and quantification using molecular (VCN) and flow based assays.
  • Prior experience with delivery system of transient expression is a plus.
  • Experience with autoimmune disease (AID) models is a plus.
  • Track record of productivity evidenced by publications or patents.
  • Be able to work independently to plan and timely execute research projects
  • Deep knowledge of immunology and immunotherapy; a deep understanding of AID is preferred
  • Proficient in advanced gene delivery methods using LVV, VLP or genome editing technologies
  • Strong experience with lentivirus production, tittering and transduction.
  • Working molecular biology and cellular biology knowledge in design and evaluation of modified viral vectors
  • Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The anticipated base pay range is:

$123,605 - $162,232 USD

  1. Access to Company Confidential Information. I acknowledge that for the sole and limited purpose of evaluating a possible employment relationship with me, the Company might disclose, or enable me to have access to, certain Confidential Information of the Company, as defined below.  I agree that, except for purposes of evaluating a possible employment relationship with the Company or as expressly authorized in writing by the Company, I will (a) not use or disclose any Confidential Information; (b) keep all Confidential Information confidential at all times; and (c) not copy, reproduce or modify any Confidential Information.
  2. Definition of “Confidential Information.” For purposes of this Agreement, “Confidential Information” shall mean any and all information and materials provided to me by the Company, including without limitation, inventions, trade secrets, software code, product development and marketing strategies, ideas, processes, formulas, know-how, unpublished financial information, business plans, contractual relationships with third parties and operating strategies; memoranda, notes, records, drawings, manuals, disks, or other documents and media; and all embodiments, copies, extracts, and summaries thereof; provided, however, that “Confidential Information” shall not include information that: (a) is generally known or available to the public, or (b) is furnished to me by a third party who obtained such information using lawful means and without any restrictions on disclosure.
  3. Third Party Information. I agree that during the course of communications with the Company pursuant to this Agreement or in connection with my application and interviews for employment with the Company, I will not make any unauthorized use or disclosure to the Company of any confidential or proprietary information or trade secrets of any other person or entity to whom I have an obligation of confidentiality with respect to such information, including any current or former employer.  I further agree not to provide to the Company any materials or documents of any third party that are not generally available to the public.
  4. Remedies for Breach. I acknowledge that in the event of any breach of this Agreement, the Company will not have an adequate remedy in money or damages, and therefore the Company shall be entitled to obtain temporary, preliminary and/or permanent injunctive relief to redress any such breach, from any court of competent jurisdiction, and that the Company’s right to obtain such relief shall not limit its right to obtain other available remedies.
  5. General. The interpretation and enforcement of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California.  This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties concerning the subject matters hereof; it supersedes any and all prior agreements or representations, written or oral, with respect to its subject matters; and it cannot be modified except in a written agreement signed by the Company.
