Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen, one of the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autolecuel (cilta-cel). Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

 

Legend Biotech is seeking an Executive Medical Director, Digital Strategy, Innovation & Channel Experience Head as part of the Medical Affairs team based Remotely.

Role Overview

This senior Medical Affairs leader drives enterprise-wide digital transformation to improve evidence generation, scientific exchange, and stakeholder engagement. The role integrates advanced analytics, AI/ML, digital health technologies and omnichannel engagement to enable patient-centric outcomes, operational excellence, and compliant, high-impact communications across regions and disease areas to enable Medical Affairs strategic objectives.
Reporting into senior Medical Affairs leadership and operating as a key member of cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Clinical/Development, Commercial, Informatics/IT, Data & Analytics, Experience/Customer Operations, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Value & Access, Corporate/Scientific Communications), this executive defines the Medical Affairs digital vision and roadmap. The role stewards portfolio and product lifecycle for medical technology platforms, ensures robust governance, leads change management and capability-building, and establishes KPIs and closed-loop analytics to continuously optimize tactics and impact across internal and external digital initiatives. Success in this role requires aligning digital tools with business performance, adapting systems to evolving technologies and stakeholder needs, and cultivating advocacy for innovation and transformation within a highly matrixed, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Digital Transformation

  • Lead the global digital strategy and roadmap for Medical Affairs, integrating technology, analytics, and innovation to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Drive digital transformation across Medical Affairs, focusing on evidence generation, content management, insights, and customer engagement.
  • Architect and implement enterprise-level platforms and tools that enhance scalability, data integrity, and performance across medical systems.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, AI, and automation to modernize operations and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.
  • Champion value-based innovation through the development of new products, platforms, and digital tactics informed by scientific expertise and strategic leadership.

Digital Channel Experience and Omnichannel

  • Develop and manage engagement strategies to ensure consistent, personalized, and compliant communication with healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Direct creation and dissemination of scientific content across portals, microsites, social media, and webinars, ensuring compliance with MLR review processes.
  • Establish frameworks for content taxonomy, tagging, and asset management to support modular content reuse and global alignment.
  • Enhance medical digital presence through campaigns that broaden reach and engagement of scientific communications and publications.
  • Partner cross-functionally to optimize channel experience tactics and continuously improve medical content operations.
  • Leverage SEO fundamentals, web analytics (e.g., traffic/engagement funnels), and social management tools to optimize reach.

Data Analytics and AI Enablement/Optimization

  • Drive the collection, centralization, and AI-based analysis of medical insights to inform global and regional strategies and enable data driven decisions.
  • Link multiple data sources—internal and external—through AI/ML intelligence layers to generate actionable insights.
  • Establish KPIs and analytics dashboards to measure digital engagement, adoption, and medical impact at the HCP and program levels.
  • Leverage real-time data and AI insights to optimize engagement strategies and operational performance.
  • Enable and deploy AI-driven tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy across Medical Affairs functions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to design, test, and optimize AI and machine learning models that support analytics, medical insights, and content development.
  • Evaluate and refine AI algorithms to enhance personalization, predictive insights, and automation in medical engagement strategies.
  • Ensure validation of AI-based solutions to ensure compliance, ethical standards, and scientific accuracy.
  • Leverage AI-driven content generation and optimization tools to accelerate scientific content creation, review, and dissemination.
  • Continuously test and refine AI models to align with evolving business and scientific strategies, ensuring they deliver measurable value and strategic outcomes.

Change Leadership, Operations, and Capability Building

  • Develop and lead global digital training programs and rollout of solutions to enhance Medical Affairs digital literacy and capability adoption.
  • Implement change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new tools and systems
  • Foster a culture of innovation and agility through leadership that acts as visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach.
  • Represent Medical Affairs digitally and strategically at internal and external leadership forums and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, regulatory, and ethical standards in collaboration with Legal, Regulatory, and IT Security teams.
  • Manage budgets, vendor partnerships, and contracts; evaluate fair market value (FMV) and ROI for all digital initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, participation in external best practice forums, and adoption of innovative methodologies. Represent Medical Affairs digitally and strategically at internal and external leadership forums and conferences. 

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant scientific experience and a minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Proven track record leading digital transformation, product/portfolio management, and large‑scale change in global, matrixed environments.
  • Exceptional executive communication, influence, and stakeholder management; ability to simplify complexity and drive alignment.
  • Strong vendor management, budgeting, forecasting, and FMV SoW oversight; history of delivering on time and within budget.
  • High integrity, scientific rigor, and resilience; thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous settings with an agile, test‑and‑learn mindset.
  • A proven track record of identifying, developing, leading, and implementing new technologies, solutions, platforms, and processes to optimize and execute digital strategies that drive innovation and deliver business results.

I (the candidate) enter into this Non-Disclosure Agreement (the “Agreement”) with Legend Biotech USA Inc. (the “Company”), effective as of the date of my acknowledgement below, for the purpose of enabling the Company to evaluate a possible employment relationship with me.

  1. Access to Company Confidential Information. I acknowledge that for the sole and limited purpose of evaluating a possible employment relationship with me, the Company might disclose, or enable me to have access to, certain Confidential Information of the Company, as defined below.  I agree that, except for purposes of evaluating a possible employment relationship with the Company or as expressly authorized in writing by the Company, I will (a) not use or disclose any Confidential Information; (b) keep all Confidential Information confidential at all times; and (c) not copy, reproduce or modify any Confidential Information.
  2. Definition of “Confidential Information.” For purposes of this Agreement, “Confidential Information” shall mean any and all information and materials provided to me by the Company, including without limitation, inventions, trade secrets, software code, product development and marketing strategies, ideas, processes, formulas, know-how, unpublished financial information, business plans, contractual relationships with third parties and operating strategies; memoranda, notes, records, drawings, manuals, disks, or other documents and media; and all embodiments, copies, extracts, and summaries thereof; provided, however, that “Confidential Information” shall not include information that: (a) is generally known or available to the public, or (b) is furnished to me by a third party who obtained such information using lawful means and without any restrictions on disclosure.
  3. Third Party Information. I agree that during the course of communications with the Company pursuant to this Agreement or in connection with my application and interviews for employment with the Company, I will not make any unauthorized use or disclosure to the Company of any confidential or proprietary information or trade secrets of any other person or entity to whom I have an obligation of confidentiality with respect to such information, including any current or former employer.  I further agree not to provide to the Company any materials or documents of any third party that are not generally available to the public.
  4. Remedies for Breach. I acknowledge that in the event of any breach of this Agreement, the Company will not have an adequate remedy in money or damages, and therefore the Company shall be entitled to obtain temporary, preliminary and/or permanent injunctive relief to redress any such breach, from any court of competent jurisdiction, and that the Company’s right to obtain such relief shall not limit its right to obtain other available remedies.
  5. General. The interpretation and enforcement of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California.  This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties concerning the subject matters hereof; it supersedes any and all prior agreements or representations, written or oral, with respect to its subject matters; and it cannot be modified except in a written agreement signed by the Company.
