Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Legend Biotech is seeking a Workday Project Manager as part of the Human Resources team based in Somerset, NJ.

Role Overview

Legend Biotech is seeking an experienced Workday Project Manager (Contractor) to support the successful delivery of Workday HCM implementation. This role will partner closely with the implementation vendor and internal stakeholders to drive strong project governance, coordination, documentation, and risk management across the program.

The Project Manager will own the PMO function, including governance routines and all core project management deliverables such as the integrated project plan, RAID log, and status reporting. This role will support detailed planning efforts, manage cross-workstream dependencies, and ensure governance structures are consistently applied and effective throughout the implementation.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in managing HR system or Workday implementations and brings a proactive, hands-on approach to managing timelines, risks, dependencies, and communications across multiple workstreams.

Contract Duration: 6–9 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the PMO function for the Workday program, establishing and enforcing disciplined project governance, standards, and controls across the full implementation lifecycle.
  • Serve as the central point of orchestration across all Workday workstreams, including Core HR, Benefits, Payroll, Time & Absence, and Change Management, ensuring alignment, integration, and timely execution.
  • Partner closely with the implementation vendor, holding them accountable to scope, milestones, and quality; proactively challenge assumptions, push for resolution, and escalate where delivery is at risk.
  • Plan, manage, and drive all project governance routines, including detailed project planning, weekly status meetings, and ad-hoc issue resolution sessions.
  • Develop, maintain, and control all PMO artifacts, including the integrated project plan, milestones, dependency tracking, RAID log, decision log, and governance model.
  • Own the RAID process end to end, ensuring risks and issues are identified early, clearly documented, actively managed, and escalated decisively with recommended mitigation.
  • Actively manage cross-functional dependencies, ensuring handoffs between functional teams, technical teams, and change management are clearly defined and executed.
  • Monitor day-to-day delivery health, quickly identifying gaps, delays, or blockers and driving closure through structured follow-up, clear ownership, and firm timelines.
  • Provide clear, concise, and credible reporting to project leadership and executives, translating complex delivery details into actionable insights and decision points.
  • Enable effective decision-making by surfacing trade-offs, impacts, and risks early, and ensuring decisions are documented and communicated across the program.
  • Set the tone for execution rigor, accountability, and transparency across the program, acting as a calm, authoritative presence in a complex, fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, HR or related field.
  • 10+ years of project management experience, ideally in HR systems.
  • Prior experience managing Workday projects, preferably HCM, Payroll & Time Tracking.
  • Experience as a client project manager working directly with implementation partners and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, JIRA).
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and dependencies in a fast-paced environment.
