Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen, one of the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autolecuel (cilta-cel). Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

 

Legend Biotech is seeking a Lab and Site Support Specialist as part of the Information Technology team based in Philadelphia, PA.

 

Role Overview

The Lab and Site Support Specialist will assist in the operation of laboratory IT capabilities and R&D systems in the Philadelphia, PA location. This individual’s responsibilities will include coordinating the end-to-end process to on-board an instrument system into a laboratory from procuring the computer as per vendor specifications, connecting to network, configuring the instrument with vendor, risk assessment, and qualify as per GxP procedures (if applicable). In addition, the ideal candidate will provide operational support to existing lab computing devices and scientific applications. He/she will also provide basic site support in collaboration with the Technical Services team, which may include IT Hardware maintenance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • The critical nature of these systems requires the appropriate support to ensure a highly stable, secure and reliable computing environment.
  • This role will provide support and systems management to the lab computing environment in accordance with IT Policies and Procedures.
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, timely execution of work, collaboration with scientists, IT colleagues, and vendors are essential to ensure maximum productivity for the bench scientist as well as to ensure the integrity of both the laboratory data collected and the systems used to collect the data.
  • Collaborate with scientists, vendors, and IT colleagues on new systems implementation, integration and administration.
  • Participate in the installation, documentation, and testing of instrument systems.
  • Assist in implementation of data management tools for backup and archive of instrument data.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and assist in technical support of both instrument software installed on lab computers and connectivity between computer and instrument.
  • Provide user support on scientific software (e.g., LabVantage LIMS, Flow Jo, Zageno, SnapGene, OMIQ, EndNote, BioRender, Journal Subscriptions, etc.).
  • Assist in administration of additional systems such as Laboratory Information Management Systems and Electronic Laboratory Notebook (LIMS and ELN, respectively).
  • Contribute to development of SOP or Work Instructions for the area.
  • Coordinate the necessary risk assessment and qualification protocols to support the GxP applicability of the instrument system (as applicable).
  • Coordinate with engineering, facilities, and quality teams to ensure the timely installation, commissioning, and qualification of laboratory instruments and IT systems.
  • Track, document, and update incidents and requests accurately in the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.
  • Assist in updating any knowledge base articles.

 

Requirements

  • BS degree with 2 years experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
  • An understanding of laboratory science in the life sciences industry, preferably in cell therapy space.
  • Understanding of GxP software administration and configuration.
  • Installing, configuring and supporting systems and applications in lab environments.
  • Experience with direct customer/user interaction, including training.
  • He/she should demonstrate an understanding of the need for standards yet also have a willingness to look for new, more effective strategies to support and improve the laboratory computing environment.
  • Experience supporting standalone or enterprise computerized systems and/or applications.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations.
  • Demand Management Skills - Ability to take initiative and prioritize objectives from multiple tasks; adhere to scheduled timelines while maintaining flexibility, independently or as part of a team. Self-directed with a high degree of professional integrity, very organized, and detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar).
  • Must have knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and of computer systems validation (CSV).
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Applications (Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word) and/or other relevant software programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and service-oriented attitude are essential. Must contribute to a team based, collaborative and positive environment, clarity of purpose and high commitment to business goals.

I (the candidate) enter into this Non-Disclosure Agreement (the “Agreement”) with Legend Biotech USA Inc. (the “Company”), effective as of the date of my acknowledgement below, for the purpose of enabling the Company to evaluate a possible employment relationship with me.

  1. Access to Company Confidential Information. I acknowledge that for the sole and limited purpose of evaluating a possible employment relationship with me, the Company might disclose, or enable me to have access to, certain Confidential Information of the Company, as defined below.  I agree that, except for purposes of evaluating a possible employment relationship with the Company or as expressly authorized in writing by the Company, I will (a) not use or disclose any Confidential Information; (b) keep all Confidential Information confidential at all times; and (c) not copy, reproduce or modify any Confidential Information.
  2. Definition of “Confidential Information.” For purposes of this Agreement, “Confidential Information” shall mean any and all information and materials provided to me by the Company, including without limitation, inventions, trade secrets, software code, product development and marketing strategies, ideas, processes, formulas, know-how, unpublished financial information, business plans, contractual relationships with third parties and operating strategies; memoranda, notes, records, drawings, manuals, disks, or other documents and media; and all embodiments, copies, extracts, and summaries thereof; provided, however, that “Confidential Information” shall not include information that: (a) is generally known or available to the public, or (b) is furnished to me by a third party who obtained such information using lawful means and without any restrictions on disclosure.
  3. Third Party Information. I agree that during the course of communications with the Company pursuant to this Agreement or in connection with my application and interviews for employment with the Company, I will not make any unauthorized use or disclosure to the Company of any confidential or proprietary information or trade secrets of any other person or entity to whom I have an obligation of confidentiality with respect to such information, including any current or former employer.  I further agree not to provide to the Company any materials or documents of any third party that are not generally available to the public.
  4. Remedies for Breach. I acknowledge that in the event of any breach of this Agreement, the Company will not have an adequate remedy in money or damages, and therefore the Company shall be entitled to obtain temporary, preliminary and/or permanent injunctive relief to redress any such breach, from any court of competent jurisdiction, and that the Company’s right to obtain such relief shall not limit its right to obtain other available remedies.
  5. General. The interpretation and enforcement of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California.  This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties concerning the subject matters hereof; it supersedes any and all prior agreements or representations, written or oral, with respect to its subject matters; and it cannot be modified except in a written agreement signed by the Company.
